DT, I never noticed

Can anyone give some information on Andrew Feign? He is a Sophmore form Lake Highlands that plays DT. Is he a walk on or, did he transfer?

At 6'2" and 340 I would think he needs to shed some Lb's to get to where Bennett wants his DT's.

Thank you for any help.

It looks like he redshirted last year. The 2003 roster has him listed @ 279 lbs, but there's no mention of him on the 2004 roster. You gotta think he can move, being an ex-wrestler, and at 340 he should be able to plug a couple of holes. That being said, this just may be a typo and he's really 240.

Andrew Feige
Defensive Tackle
Sophomore • 0L
6-2 • 340
Dallas, Texas (Lake Highlands)
Freshman (2003): Did not see action; Prep: Was a two-year letterwinner
at Lake Highlands, earning first-team All-District 9-5A honors… Also
named first team All-City… Won the District and Regional titles in
wrestling… Chose SMU over Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and SFA;
Personal: Political science major… Son of Susie and Allen Feige… Has
two siblings, Nichole & Matt.

340 seems awfully big for a HS wrestler. Probably a typo.

The BUS was a high school wrestler from Lake Highlands. Back then the class was just heavyweight with no cap.

The rules have changed and 280 is the cap for heavy.

I want to get a look at that guy and see what he weighs.

Thank you for the info!

Nope -- he really is 340. He's .... um .... "bulked up nicely." You're right, BUS, he needs to shed some lbs. to get to a legitimate playing weight, but by all accounts, he's working religiously at doing just that.

And yes, he was a walk-on.

Screw mobility, why don't we put his big ol' butt on the O-line and make somebody move him out of the way to get to Eckert/Phillips/Romo.

The DOOBY was a high school wrestler as well. Got into it because I took judo. Not a heavyweight back then, because that was before easy access to beer and Krispy Kremes (damn those coach's breakfasts!). I had to quit after lettering my sophmore year because I transfered to a school without a wrestling program.

Yo Dooby - sorry to hear about the beer and donuts.

Ha ha

One of the reasons I got into wrestling was I took Judo too.

Good balance and use the other persons act against them.

Dooby, I missed the beer at the coach's breakfast. I did eat my share of donuts and drank coffee.

Where was the beer?

Yeah, like I would drink beer at 7:30am. unless I was still going from the night before.

With Adami/Karrington gone, and with Jones out, is this guy in the rotation for spring? Or is he just a practice guy? I can't remember seeing him before.

I remember the notices about this player a couple of years back. His announded weight was at or under the limit BUS stated and it was said he was an interesting prospect because he brought a case of the nasties over to football from wrestling. Don't remember seeing his name last year.

I hope someone will take the time to list all of the walk-ons who see more than token action tomorrow.

BUS, I am curious. Did Feign get on the field during the spring game? Does he have a chance to play?

Not sure about how many snaps he got in the game, but he saw limited action in the spring. Due to the weight, I believe the trainers/coaches had him sitting out on sprints, etc.

So essentially we have Gilbert Brown on the team? Huge hole plugger just don't ask him to move?

Weght is the most overrated quality for the success of a football team.
