From today's DMN:

Secules an AD finalist at Appalachian State
Senior associate athletic director and former Cowboys quarterback Scott Secules is one of three finalists for the athletic director position at Appalachian State. Brad Edwards, a senior associate at South Carolina, and Charles Cobb, a senior associate at North Carolina State, are the other finalists. Secules said he interviewed with the school's search committee last week and toured the campus Wednesday.

Hey Alex-
I'm doing very well, thanks. I missed the Spring Game and the Happy Hour because of being out of town. How are you and the Mrs. doing?

Glad Secules is staying. He's a good guy.

Appalachian State University's mistake is our gain.

For Scott's sake, I am sorry he did not get the job, but for our sake, I am glad he didn't. Talk about mixed emotions.

Since Copeland brought him here, do you think he might be the replacement for Jim when he retires?

I'd be willing to bet no such decision has been made. I'm sure that whenever Copeland decides to retire, a search will be conducted. Secules might well be a candidate, but there's no way a decision about Copeland's successor has been made at this point.

We don't need to hire another spare. We need to land a "Hyman-type" to hit the Hilltop runnin', run-off some of the "hangers-on", raise the bar, and institute a high level of accountability. Now, whether you can get a high calibur individual to touch the SMU situation with a 10-foot pole is another question.
