Deep snapper

Derrice Randle, I think, is graduating. And while he's never going to make anyone forget Dale Hellestrae, he's been a solid, dependable deep-snapper. I never thought he was big enough, but he always got the ball where it needed to go (from there, things were always a crapshoot.)

With a freshman punter next year, this is a position that can not be overlooked. Can Reindl deep-snap? What about Chandler? Others?

Last year's coaches seemed to think Brad Kieschnick, among others, had the ability to deep snap. He should be in the mix. That's a critical position, so the more competition that can be created at practice, the better performance we're likely to get.

Hilltopper,

Derrice finally got the ball going where it needed to be going, this past year. As for years before, he thought the ball was supposed to go over the punter's head.

Either that or Walterscheid couldn't catch - which is odd, because Colin Vadheim never seemed to have a problem with the snaps.

Also odd, because I heard Rich Phillips and Craig Swann talk about how Walterscheid was a running back and baseball star in high school - he should have decent hands.

Oh well, Russ Davis is now the man. Hope he and his new snapper have lots of time to practice the exchange.

Can Scott Dale deep snap?
