Yeah and as a true freshman the guy could really throw the deep ball. How seasons did he appear in? 6?

"Flanigan finished his career at SMU amassing 7,437 career yards."

He'd have made 8000 if Cavan hadn't sat him on the bench for a few
games. Thats why Cavan isn't coaching anymore, and Copeland's a DOPE!

I think it was six, counting the year he went down on the first play of the season against Arkansas.

"Flanigan surpassed Chuck Hixson as the all-time yardage leader in SMU history"

Chuck Hixson played only 3 seasons I believe. could not play as a freshman back then. one newspaper said he ran like a pregnant cow. he got his yardage by throwing, not running. lots of yards gain because he threw to Jerry Levias, hixon a sophomore and levias a senior. I was a student back then and it was fun. SMU could, and often would, come back to win.

The Miraculous Mustangs! How many come-from-behind wins did we see back then?

The Cotton Bowl was the place to be on Saturday afternoons!
