Sweet Christmas! That's one damn ugly uniform!PK wrote:http://www.smumustangs.com/football/90/index_68.asp
That's Mike Cavan's NY Jet uniform that lasted all of one game...and rightfully so. Still Cavan's Jet uniform was a thing of beauty when compared to the Dave Smith Ohio State uniform fiasco.MrMustang1965 wrote:Sweet Christmas! Look, just because you fetched coffee and took out the trash in the SID office doesn't mean you know anything, and your self-pronounced "knowledge" underscores that assertion more and more often. I often ignore your mindless rants because, frankly, that's the attention they deserve. But what is your intent with this post? Are you suggesting Luke Johnson couldn't play? He was a tiny DE going against guys who outweighed him by huge amounts (and, to be fair, played on better teams) and who built their offensive line schemes around him because he was by far SMU's best (and sometimes only) pass-rushing threat. He was a terrific football player -- period. Can you imagine what he would have done if he played at 6'5" and 260 or 270? He couldn't have been 240 soaking wet. But he went 100 MPH on every single play and made plays even when everyone in the building knew he was coming. Yet here you are, with all your first-hand knowledge of what it takes to play college sports, belittling a guy who busted his tail against a lot of odds and was an extraordinarily productive player. You're right, he didn't make it to the NFL, and he didn't have 5 stars when he was recruited. Who gives a damn? He was a damn good football player, and frankly, I'd take a team full of Luke Johnsons every day. Nobody suggested that Luke Johnson is the second coming of Reggie White or Bruce Smith. But the idea that his record is not very impressive is imbicilic in its inception. This is a record of which Luke can -- and should -- be extremely proud, and I, for one, feel lucky to have seen him play and to cheer for him. Your post makes you look small and insecure, at best, and frankly, your act is way beyond old. Look at the banner at the top of the page, where it says ponyFANS.com and look up the word "fan" .... because you're not it.Stallion wrote:You know I fondly recall sitting back in my seat in the colorful and historic Sun Bowl in 1999 with SMU well on its way to its 5th straight humiliating loss to open the 1999 season and peering down on an SMU team that was actually bad enough to lose to UTEP a team which in my youth I never fathomed we would ever lose to much less 42-28. And then Luke Johnson got his record 4th sack and I jumped to my feet and proudly proclaimed---Gee this was one of the "90 Greatest Moments in the History of SMU Football" Then I sat down with a warm, fuzzy feeling about how neat it was to be a Mustang Fan. and how I had just witnessed History.
