The Mustang Band on the Road

I posted this message after "Bandsman" on the other board asked for next year's schedule:
The great thing about next year's schedule [with closer away games of interest) "is that there is a realistic chance that the only 2 away games the band wouldn't travel to would be Hawaii and Fresno, although El Paso is quite a haul too. It would be like the old days when we had lots of raod trips. Of course, the funding issue is still critical to making sure the band is in Stillwater. El Paso would be icing on the cake."
Responses asked if there was a fund for band road trips. And this is what I posted:
"One of the main goals for the DiamondM Club is to raise money for the band to pay for, among other things, trips to away games. Increasing travel opportunities has actually been discussed as a MAJOR goal for the next couple of years. About all that the band has been able to afford the last couple of years is 1 trip to Houston and the TCU trip. You do not have to be a band alum to join and donate. You can just call Tommy Tucker at 214-768-BAND. There are some nice 'premiums' depending on the level of giving, if that makes a difference. In the past, we have actually had individuals pay for an entire trip (this is how the band went to the UCLA game a couple of years ago). I'm sure Tommy would be happy to discuss the economics of a trip to Stillwater or El Paso (or heck, Hawaii) with anyone interested in doing such a thing. However, the goal is to establish a consistent giving pattern so that the trips are not one shot deals, but that every bandsman can expect to go on good out of town trips to support the team on a regular basis."
I thought y'all over here might be interested in this info as well.
