I know its earlier ahh screw it being early.
We're all ready for some football.
Lets start the prediction thread. Who do you guys think will win?
Personally, I gotta think SMU will win in a close one. Baylor might be improved but so are we. We've become a very good team at home, while Baylor hasnt won a road game since 2001 I believe. Gotta go with the Mighty Mustangs! GO STANGS!

Wow! I have to admit, that takes some guts. We are a good team at home???? I guess it's all relative. I hate Baylor, I'd love to beat them, but it's just not gonna happen. We have a questionable Defensive front, a poor at best offensive line, and a sucko record for the month of September (have we won a game in Sept since the opening game at Ford?). I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see us winning a game during the month of September, maybe for another two years. We were real lucky to win more than one game last year.

I don't know a lot about the BU team. However, from what I've read, their running game is not overwhelming. Considering the uncertainty of our defensive line, that will be a crucial element in the game. If, in fact, those reports are true, then I've got the Ponies winning.
SMU 23, Baylor 17

All I have to say, I predicted the Tulsa win. I predicted the Nevada win.
We'll see if I can predict this Baylor game right.

Keep it up, Mustangs35SMU!
Put me down for:
SMU 17
Baylor 13
Baylor is getting better faster than we are.

The athletic program at BU is improving steadily judging by their all sports rankings for last year. They have hired a winning coach from the SEC who is improving their team, even though it will be hard to keep up with their Big 12 South competition. Since it is taking the BU coach time to show results, maybe I will have to give Benentt some slack this year in getting his results. But I fear that BU has the BCS advantage that will help them improve faster than SMU can do. I wish it were going to be different, but the bears may have moved ahead of us already. If we are ever going to beat a former SWC rival in the Big 12, this may be our last good chance to do it.

I'm BACK! It's been a long time (out of the country), but it's great to be back among PonyFans.
I've got a lot of reading to do about the Ponies (and opponents), but I'll say SMU 26, Baylor 24.
Here's to a safe and happy Fourth for everyone.

I just don't see it happening folks. I wish I could say different. I am a true Mustang fan, but it is:
Baylor 28
SMU 17

I will go as far as saying the Baylor game is critical to the long term success of Phil Bennett at SMU. I had been pointing to 2006 as the year SMU might finally be competitive again, but with all the talk about Chris Phillips not coming on stronger than he has, I'm beginning to think the Ponies are going to have to get it done this year. Eckert ran the offense pretty well towards the end of last year, admittedly against the softest part of the schedule. If this team can score some points, I look for a win in the opener...something like 23-20.

THE BAYLOR GAME COULD
DETERMINE WHICH WAY THE
REST OF THE SEASON GOES.

no question about that, Big Horse. The question is whether our guys can come back from any early adversity. That's my biggest concern. After all these years of losing, the big question is what SMU team will show the heart to go 60 minutes and actually fight back from an early deficit. That goes for the Baylor game and the rest of this season.

No argument there, CP. I also question whether those in attendance in the stands will have the stamina to stay until the final gun. As a player, it must have an affect to see the lines heading out the door at the beginning of the 4th quarter.
