Has anyone seen the ad on SMUMustangs.com that says "The Commitment"

Not sure what it is but it says the master plan will be unveiled on January 30th at 7 in Moody. This is like 9-2-2000!

I am getting excited and curious. Anyone have any inside info to share?

I've been briefed some on it as it relates to the Mustang Club fund drive. I don't want to steal anyone's thunder, so trust me....you should be there January 30th at Moody (it will be open to the public...so be there). I think you will like what you will hear there, especially as it relates to the University's support of SMU athletics. I know, I know....you think you've heard similar things before, but you haven't heard what will be said at this meeting before....at least not in the last 12 yrs.

I am listening to the Fresno game on the radio and they just ran an ad for "The Commitment." They said Turner, Bennett, and Copeland will be there and be a part of the commitment, something like that. Sounds to me like it is just a fundraiser and a chance to hear the preceeding talk about SMU sports. Maybe not as exciting as I originally dreamed, but should still be something to go to.

It's okay to believe whatever you want to believe as long as you SHOW UP for the ceremony. I think you will pleased to see that you are misgivings are unfounded on this one.

Yes, yes, the alums and fans as always will be asked to be a part of the "commitment", but more importantly this time the SMU Board of Trustees have now made a commitment, a substantial commitment, to SMU athletics....be there.

If that is the case, then look out. This has been the real root problem with SMU Football since the dreaded DP. We don't have any backing outside the Athletic department. For all of us that have been fans throughout the post DP period, you know what I mean.

I will say that this seems very similar to what TCU did when they hired Fran and gave him the tools to succeed. We could take a page from the Frogs' book on that one. They've been very succesful. I'm a little biased, but I think we can be even more succesful. The sky's the limit if we have the administration's backing.

I wish I could be there Wed., but I'll be working in Houston. Any chance the crappy ticket will be running a live feed?

In "Ask the AD", Copeland's answer to one of the questions addresses a little bit about the increased budgets and other parts of the Five Year Plan, aka, "The Commitment." He also talks about Moody upgrade plans in answering one of the other questions. There will be alot more information January 30th at 7:00pm and you will want to be there.
