NCAA

How the hell did Bama get away without earning the NCAA's second DP? This is a program that backed the Brinks truck up to recruits and their high school coaches, gave kids more rock star treatment than just about any place on the planet ("I'm sure Johnny Quarterback paid for that hat he's wearing .... not to mention that rig he's rolling around in....") and they get a slap on the wrist? Two years without bowl games? They weren't going to bowl games the next two years anyway, because their top players are graduating .... ERRR, "finishing their eligibility." The only way this sanction is even remotely just is if the scholarship losses are significant. None of this "you lose two for each of the next two years" garbage. There are enough big, strong rednecks in Bama who have grown up wrestling livestock, going to NASCAR races (to watch some overweight middle-aged wanna-be athletes squeeze their chicken-friend-steak-stuffed carcass through the window of a rolling billboard with doors that don't open and turn left for four hours) and suckin' down corn squeezin's that all they've ever wanted to do was to snap on those classic Bama uni's. Every time they backed away from the still, "Paw" was telling some story about how "the great Bear Bryant" would have done something, until little Cletus figured the game of football was invented in Tuscaloosa (seriously - can you imagine ANYTHING being invented in Tusacaloosa?) OK, sorry for that little rant, but after reading the charges against the Tide, this little slap they got is unacceptable. And I can't think of a better man to have the rug pulled out from under him than that whiny Coach Fran.
