Wednesday's Luncheon - Raise a question!

If you had the chance to ask SMU president Gerald Turner, AD Jim Copeland or head football coach Phil Bennett a question at Wednesday's football kick-off luncheon, what would it be?

This is the first kick-off luncheon I've ever been able to attend. Do they open up the floor for questions?

Look forward to seeing the rest of my fellow ponyfans there.

I just love the positive thoughts that go out on this board.

For me, I can not wait to get this year going. We will be better... how much????

Turner/Copeland
What question would I ask? How are we going to get the school to accept more transfer hours for JC players?

When is the new major program starting?

Agreed Bus!

It is time to be excited and hopeful for the new season.

Why be negative now?

I can't wait for the BLVD and football season to begin!

:D

The people who are being negative are not Pony fans.

or

"obviously we're not hurting for $$$ for athletics & the school or you would fight the bcs-bs - right? Please ellaborate."

this is comical. Baylor fans talking trash. How many coaches have you been through since 1995? 4 or 5? New Guy won't last long either.

No kidding. Man, there's nothing more pathetic than fans of two teams that really suck trying to talk trash to each other.

Except maybe fans of lowly Div-2 San Marcos JC trying to talk trash to anybody.

I will write out a check for $100 to the Mustang Club for anyone who publicly asks Dr Turner the following question….

In the 18 years since the DP, out of 120 schools that have participated in D1-A football, only 3 teams, Buffalo, Temple and Kent State, have a lower winning percentage than SMU.

Dr. Turner, during your 10-year reign here, only 10 schools have a lower winning percentage than SMU.

Dr. Turner, since your infamous ‘Commitment Speech’ of 3 years ago, only 2 schools, Buffalo and Army, have a lower winning percentage than SMU.

Dr. Turner, why should we believe anything to say to us today?

Why don't you just e-mail that question to him and let us know what his response is? That way you can save yourself a hundred bucks. Posting his response here will be just as public as at the luncheon...maybe more so.

PK,

I have written Turner and others at the university. In the responses I have received from them, there is no real acknowledgement of any problem. Instead they have a scripted :D

Challenging Turner would be kind of funny. The guy raised a friggin' fortune for SMU and SMU is doing academically about as well as it ever has. He's easily the best SMU president since Willis Tate (there's a reference for ya). The guy is bulletproof. And if he gets the Bush library, he'll be able to walk around campus without pants and nobody will care. After the Bush LIbrary, the next thing will be the centennial fundraising campaign. After that, they will be naming buildings after Turner.

That would actually be my goal if I was president of a university, to be so successful that I could literally not wear pants......of course I would follow and make sure I was seen between classes strolling along in a pair of tighty whities and a shirt, tie and coat.
