Channel 11 aired coverage of the Mustangs last night on the 10 o'clock news broadcast. The topic was how experienced the team was with 24 experienced starters and all 11 offense starters are returning.
In the brief interview with coach Bennett, you could tell he was excited about having experience for once. D D Lee said we are going to a bowl game this year. He stated he did not come to SMU to win just 3 games. He came here to win championships and bowl games. I sure hope he is right.
Is was so refreshing to actually see a local channel provide coverage of SMU instead of the constant TU, ATM, and Tech.
Kudos to channel 11.

When has Bennett "NOT" been
excited?
The story was nice, but pretty fluffy. Ch.5 aired a more in depth analysis of the Frogs.

Channel 5 already did a story on the Ponies, and did it before they did their story on frogville.
First the DMN is giving us more space, now we're the local TV stations .... someone needs to FedEx a thermometer to Hell. I hear there's a cold front blowing in. But whatever the reason, I like it.

There is a way to keep getting media coverage from the DMN and the local TV affiliates, WIN FOOTBALL GAMES. SMU needs to give the local media a reason to print stories about us. Beat Baylor and see how many stories are on the front of the sports page for the lead in to the game with the Toads. It's called media traction, and we better start getting some on September 4th.
