And it returns...the list of who will be at the game and who wont!

Will you be there this Saturday?

Sadly I wont but dont worry my tickets are in good use. My grandmother will attend an SMU event for the first time without my grandmother since well atleast in the past 30 it hasnt happened. Along with my aunt and two cousins.

So my tickets will still be used no worries.

Lets get em Stangs!

/\ Actually, Mustangs35SMU is a current high school student... it's been fun monitroing his posts over the years. I just love that we have at least one fan under 18.

I'll be there, just as long as you are too... wait, where did that come from?

Sorry that you'll miss it Mustangs35SMU ... do you have some sort of Lobo duty?

I'll be there and have 170 confirmed to my tailgate this year.. along with a band. Going to be a great time! Getting there around 11am to start the smoker and get the Big Screen going for early games.

BTW.. Longview should just hang it up this year.. Tyler Lee is going to run all over them. BACK TO BACK STATE TITLE!!! GO LEE
(Of course I have to give our Lobo fans crap while I can)

What band have you booked?

I'll be at the game with 9 others (wife, twin stepdaughters, older stepdaughter who is coming home for the weekend from TT, another couple and their twin daughters and son). GO MUSTANGS!

Present :!: or will be in 4 days. Hey Mustangs35SMU, I heard Cox
Communications is broadcasting the Lobo - West Monroe game. Do you
know if the Longview cable company is carrying it, and what channel?

Yep, Longview faces off againist #1 in Class 5A (Louisiana) West Monroe at Independent Stadium. Should be a good one. It better be (good one=Lobo win) or I would've missed SMU beating Baylor for nothing!

Yep, the game is on Cox Sports, Cox Communication. I know that Gladewater has it and if anyone in Longview wanted it they would have to get it from there.

I have a full slate for this weekend
Friday: Highland Park @ Rockwall
Drive home and sleep
Saturday: Evangel vs Springdale-2 PM
Longview vs West Monroe-7 PM

Should be a fun weekend!

Bit of history: I was working for the Longview Newspapers, Inc. (Morning Journal/Daily News) in 1983 & 1984 when LHS football games were aired on the local TV station (The Newspaper Channel, Cable Channel 4) for the very first time. I ran the sideline camera and led cheers on the sidelines. The coach was Doug Cox and I also hosted 'The Doug Cox Show' on the same TV station.

We would tape the games, in and out-of-town, then bring the videotape back to the newspaper bldg. and put it on the air as a 'tape delay', due to UIL restrictions.

Those were some good times. Especially when we went to Abilene, TX to tape the LHS v. Abilene game. We had the tape back in Longview and on-the-air the next day at 8 a.m.

Hey, smoop bloggie blog, you might not have to worry about how the All Access feed looks, because in the "Stangs on TV" thread ALEX LIFESON reported that there will be an announcement soon (this week?) that all of the CUSA games will be televised.

I hope that's true.

Any updates, LIFESON?

Doug Cox was my brother's (TE) receivers coach during the time my
brother knocked heads with Coach Bennett who played DE at Marshall
around 71, and 72. He made coach, and was the head coach when
Longview was nipped 10-9 by Odessa Permian in the state semi-finals in
75. He was later promoted to AD for a long term ending in 99.

I think I've got some of your work on tape, but its Beta  and my
old Beta VCR has got a tape stuck in it, and is probably history. Also
have vague memories of someone doing what you said on the Lobo
sideline.

I rememberback then getting off a few minutes early, and coming back
from General Dynamics in Fort Worth on fall Friday afternoons to see
some of those games in Longview. :D
