I had no idea Gettis wasn't with the team yet.

Before hearing this, I was just really hoping that Gettis was going to be redshirtted, or only see limited action... thus I felt pretty good about our chances... for those of you/us PonyFans who really don't follow such things... Gettis is the highest ranked recruit Baylor has gotten in a generation. As a track star, the showings the the Baylor athletes had in the Olympics persuaded him to sign with the bears.

This is good news. One huge weapon we won't have to worry about.

Well, I don't know if your definition of a generation is different then mine, but some of those dudes Reedy and Roberts got were huge. Odell James was arguably the number one player in the nation when he committed to Baylor. He ended up stinking it up after he tore up a knee. Ben Gay, who never played, was an unreal recruit as well.

Either way, I wasn't expecting Gettis to do much against us anyway. True Freshman + 1st game rarely means much success. Takes awhile for all but the most talented freshman (Adrian Peterson, Ted Ginn, etc.) to adjust.

Wasn't Ben Gay recruited from the same HS as I.C. Hott and Asp R. Creem?

Umm, right... Our starting RB, Paul Mosley, was a 4* recruit out of HS. I guess that was 2002 and your generations might be shorter than what I'm thinking of, but three years is a mighty short generation for any large mammal, at least.

I think he is our best recruit in a long time, but thats my opinion.
