Outrageous

Sept 3rd has been named Baptist church night at Ford Stadium. Does that strike anyone else as just a little wrong-headed? Would Baylor have Methodist church night in Waco for an SMU game? I don't think so. Here is my thought. When SMU plays Baylor at Ford Stadium it should be Methodist church night. Good grief. I guess we can make the Baptists feel completely at home and set up some poker tables.

Felt the same way........why not just Church Night and any church groups get discounts instead of just baptist church groups. Guess we want to be out numbered.....good thinking.

Last time I checked there were a lot more Baptists than Methodists. Many kids we are trying to recruit go to Baptist Churches (especially in minority communities). As a Baptist who went to SMU, it is good to reach out to this community. That said, it might have been better to make Rice the opponant on Baptist night. On the other hand, since Baylor is getting all that BCS money, if I can grab a few dollars from their fans to fund our sports programs, well, perhaps I ought to do that.

I want the Stadium to be packed to the rafters-if our fans are going to sit on their [deleted] and watch Baywatch reruns instead then that's just the way its got to be. I applaud any move to fill the dang stadium.

Jim Copeland in the DMN today referred to the game as a Methodist-Baptist rivalry. If that's their feeling then I don't understand the current marketing campaign. That said SMU is slightly more Catholic than Methodist anyway. I'm all for religious diversity but to call it one thing and then aid and abet the opposition is ironic. When is Zen night?

AGREED STALLION!

Even the children's playground area in the endzone is very smart.

If kids are happy they tell Mommy and Daddy "what a fun time they had at the SMU Game".

Until our team gets a few more wins, we have to do anything we can to put people in the seats.

GO MUSTANGS!

Suggestions for ticket giveaways:

TCU--recent parolees

Rice--mensa members

ECU--Hillbillies

UTEP--los que se hablan espanol?

Tulsa--Okies who can't read

This should fill up Ford.

When does thae madness end? I say when does the madness end?

It just doesn't feel right

I agree with Nacho, we've got the wrong promtional theme for Sept. 3rd if it is truly Baptist night. At least let it be UMF and BTU night if there is to be a sectarian angle to the promotion.

How do you make 15,000 Baptists cry? Welcome them with open arms to Ford Stadium and then BEAT THE HELL OUTTA THE BAYLOR BEARS!!!!!

Remember: if there's a God in Heaven, SMU will win!

A lot of these are redundant.

Funny stuff Nacho. Except that to put "Hillbillies" with ecu is wrong. ECU is in Greenville, NC. Not "hillbilly" land. DO you know where the term "hillbilly" comes from? I hope we crush them, but even as crappy as they have been they get more news in the Raleigh News & Observer, then SMU gets in the "Dallas" paper. Sad.

Go Ponies!

I have no idea where hillbilly comes from. What would be appropriate for ECU? Rember we are willing to do anything to get folks into Ford. ECU is the Pirates. Should we give tickets to pirates?
