How are ticket sales for the Baylor game shaping up? IF I get to Dallas will I be able to walk up Saturday afternoon and buy a ticket? Any way I can get the discount I hear about?

I hear sales are going like last years Texas Tech opener, the sell out game.

Not true, they still have hundreds of tickets around the 40 yard line on the east side. We are hoping for a crowd of around 28,000. Anything above that would be a bonus. But 28,000 is still a pretty good crowd.

Tickets sales look strong for opener

12:34 AM CDT on Tuesday, August 30, 2005

By CALVIN WATKINS / The Dallas Morning News

SMU athletic director Jim Copeland said ticket sales are on pace to match last season's opener at Ford Stadium, when the Mustangs played Texas Tech in front of 34,689 fans.

Former SWC rivalry restored
SMU coach Phil Bennett is happy Baylor is back on the schedule. He said it reminds him of the old Southwest Conference when SMU and Baylor played every season. After the SWC folded following the 1995-96 school year, the schools didn't play again until 2003 in Waco. The teams meet again Saturday night at Ford Stadium.

"We're trying to get more regional rivalries," Bennett said. "They have a lot of players people know. The old Methodist-Baptist war has always been a good one."
