anybody see the replay of the Ut/La-La game last nite. Obviously Mack is finally realizing he needs to get some of his young running backs in BEFORE the OU game this year. Charles was spectacular with 14 carries for 135 yards plus an 18 yard reception. Then they bring in BIG HENRY MELTON-you've got to see this guy to believe him. He is 6-3 and TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE POUNDS OF MAN and runs a reported 4.6. He had 65 yards on 6 carries 10.8 per carry including two TD runs of 14 and 22 yards. He broke 5 tackles on the first and 6 tackles on the second. His legs and waist are so thick that it is impossible to wrap him up. Most I thought think he will end up on defense but the kid can run about as well as any big guy that I've ever seen.

/\ Damn, dood. It's nice to come back to this site and see you guys giving my Horns some props. Thanks for that.
This stable of running backs gives me a lot of hope for the season. Vince Young won't have to do it all (who was a very efficient 13-17 for 173 yds, 3 tds and 1 int) All of them are very capable - Henry Melton is a fookin' stud. However, it was U-LaLa, so I'll reserve judgement until the tOSU game.

You have got to be kiddin' me? They played the Univ. of Louisiana - Lafayette! Yeah, there's a real powerhouse in college football.
As I recall, Stallion...aren't you the one who is always criticizing these types of games being scheduled? Like Texas Tech v. Sam Houston State? Or SMU v. Texas State?
I just hope the Univ. of Louisiana - Lafayette got a nice, hefty paycheck to take back home to their hurricane ravaged state.

Yeah, SMU lost (again) to Baylor (again). I'm pretty bitter. I used to be an SMU 'sunshiner' but it's finally taken a toll on me.

/\ Hey, the same crap hasn't stopped me from getting excited about the TX/OU game every year. We've lost to those bastards five times in a row.
It's early and adjustments can be made. Let's hope they are made.

LHF68: Saw a guy in the stands at Ford on Saturday night wearing a burnt orange and white t-shirt with Longhorns on it. Thought it might be you because the guy waved at me and then gave me the 'Hook 'Em' sign...so I went over to say hello and extend an 'olive branch'. Turns out it was a W.T. White High School t-shirt and, no...it wasn't you.

/\ Hahahaha. That's funny. Actually, I never wear UT stuff at SMU games - not because I don't want flack, but because I like to support SMU. Usually I wear a blue t-shirt ot something since I don't own any SMU gear.
I prob. won't be down until the Tulane game, but I will be trekking out to Collie Station to watch the Ponies embarrass Aggy.

Not sure if anyone really cares, but here are the clips from the game that show the runs that were mentioned in this thread. Watch the 3rd and 4th quarter clips to see Henry Melton run through and over the Ulala defense. For those who hate UT, watch the 3rd and 4th quarter clips to see Texas' mistakes.

Thanks-the speed Melton showed on the TD that got called back is almost as impressive as the broken tackles-some of these DBs are going to get hurt if he ever gets to his third acceleration step. I'm trying to remember if there has ever been a 275 pound RB that can run like that-I can't remember one. And then you throw in two world class sprinters like Charles and Romance Taylor and oh btw remember that Vince Young running the read option is perhaps the most elusive runner at QB since Marcus Vick. Texas' running game will be just fine-maybe not as good as last year but they will still put up some big numbers.

/\ Yeah, there's a lot of buzz around Austin right now. Next week will tell us a lot about what we should expect out of this season.

how hard could it be for CSTV to archive the SMU/Baylor highlites so real SMU fans who attended the game could watch a replay. I loved the quality of those highlites from the UT game. Now that would make the season pass worth twice as much to me and I'm sure to others.
