Our new "spread-bone" offense

Postby The PonyGrad » Mon Sep 05, 2005 3:41 pm

Well I never thought this was going to be our new offense. With two backs and a running dominated spread offense I guess you can call it the spread-bone.

That's when Romo is in the game. When Eckert is in it is going to be a pass play. I don't think Eckert ran once the whole night. End of scouting report. Why oh why did he come in when we got the ball on the 20. Romo in that situation gives so many more options.

I hope Bennett never goes to Vegas since he seems to love playing the long odds. :(

Might get scrapped like Hayden Fry's "Flyin Wishbone".

Hayden Fry was just ahead of his time and foresaw the use of split receivers in the passing game.

A flying wishbone, is not much different than veer offense that was run by Houston. However all those offenses have something in common: Your line needs to block the defensive players coming after you. If you can't give your QB protection or create holes, you won't win. Football is a very simple game. Its won and lost in the trenches, right BUS.

Another difference, and I was remembering the Flying Wishbone, is that you need to make third down conversions. We had a decent YPP but third down conversion was horrible.
