Get your TCU Caps and Shirts Today!!!!

Postby LakeHighlandsPony » Sat Sep 10, 2005 6:45 am

That little TCU Spirit Shop known as Ford Stadium will be selling all the frickin frog gear you can handle. Walk over and check this out. This should outrage Ponyfans! I don't care how much our cut is-we should ban this immediately.

What do you mean, we need the money!!!!!! If it weren't for the TCU fans, we would be lucky to have 8K at this game.

You have got to be kidding. This is disgusting. This is worse than the corporate naming rights that's so offensive. I'd rather see a Dr Pepper logo on the uniforms somewhere than see someone pimping froggie gear at OUR stadium. They can give us 100 percent of the take and that's not enough. Is this done by the same genius who figured we'd all be on board with the new SMU logo/lettering? Anything for a dollar, right?

This cannot be true. Disgusting's the perfect word for it. If true, I personally challenge every pony fan on this board to say something to whoever's selling the stuff tonight. Unreal.

This is, however, perfect bulletin board stuff.

I don't know -- the folks selling that crap undoubtedly have no say over what they sell and where. However, a few ideas come to mind:

--> Whoever sells that crap had better not be SMU employees. In fact, they shouldn't be paid at all for selling frog skin on our campus.
--> The percentage of sales that goes to SMU should (but won't) be released.
--> If there's any congestion or crowds impeding traffic into the stadium, the campus cops should remove those purple salesmen.
--> There should be an SMU employee auditing sales.

I realize the financial status of our athletic department calls for creative measures to make money. Sell them more hot dogs and sodas -- those are overpriced, anyway.

Which athletic department higher-ups should be told how nauseating this whole thing is?

Much to do about nothing. The only people that are going to buy TCU stuff are TCU fans-we might as well make some money from it. Who cares.

actually, I think I've seen SMU merchandise on the road at Baylor and TCU before, but i'm not sure it was inside the stadium like the Baylor paraphaneilia was last week at Ford.

I don't see why this is a big deal. Heck, the TCU players will be on your field. TCU fans will be in the stands, eating your burgerdogs and popcorn, wearing TCU purple. So what if you make some more money selling the opposing fans stuff. I wish they'd do it at Amon G. Carter.

This just pisses me off. I asked the vendors who they worked for and they sais the SMU Spirit Shop. What the F*&% I don't understand how you can be OK with your competition's brand being promoted?! Someone tell Jerry Jones to sell Redskin gear?!

Sure, but they also share TV revenue. So give us a cut of that Notre Dame TV contract and we can talk about letting TCU sell its gear on our stadium.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE Spirit Shop employees were asked to sell that garbage. To me, that speaks volumes. I don't blame TCU for wanting to sell -- if we had their record in recent years and a bunch of fans in FW who wanted SMU gear, we should try to sell our stuff on their campus, too. And I would expect that TCU fans would be as offended as I am.
