I'm a little ticked...

Am I being unreasonable?

Yes, I know there were HUGE games yesterday, UT did their deal, the Iowa's went at it, our game got over late, etc etc etc.

But I think the media coverage of this game is a JOKE. Regardless that it was us playing, a Top-25 team got upset in a BIG way last night... and I have to go looking for some recap on it... or hell, just much of any reaction to the game not coming from us. What is wrong here?

Bearing in mind that I'm fresh back to Dallas after graduating ten years ago and haven't had the "benefit" of closely monitoring the media in our local outlets here until I got back, this is a joke.

Hell, I remember being disappointed by the media coverage of our team when I was here--but can we not get any love at all?

I just want to watch some major media outlets accurately report the upset and give it the time it deserves.

Again, am I being unreasonable, or just painfully naive?

our win got more publicity than it deserved...all because TCU was overrated as a top 25 program for having beaten OU. After the way Tulsa played OU, it certainly appears the Sooners are going to struggle this year as their QB gains experience.

Let's be realistic...our game was up agait #2 vs #4 Two storied programs meeting for the 1st time and a great game, I might add.
SMU's win over TCU was visible enough that it may just turn some recruits' heads...especially is they visit and see our facilities.

Well - it was one of ESPN.COM's college football page's "headlines" on the right hand side. Considering all the news yesterday that is not too bad.

Our coverage was pretty good considering the late hour of completion. This is something else to be learned by our good friends to the west. Be sure and check for the box scores of the MWC night games.

Hey, if we beat Texas A&M we'll be getting all the coverage in the world

Except in Arkansas were there is little to no coverage of any teams except the beloved Razorbacks. And we do have a much better team than years past. Much more speed on Defense and thus far mistake free QBs. We have had very few turnovers and have created several turnovers. Now if we can improve our kicking game (cost us 7 on the board points and 9 miss points) and get a little more out of our offense, we can be a very dangerous team.

It was a late game. It'll be in the paper on Monday morning. Chill.

Coach Bennett had another press conference about the game (and looking forward to A&M) tonight, because last night's game ended so late and media outlets all had deadlines. I would expect Calvin Watkins will have another story in tomorrow's or Tuesday's paper.

Actually, we don't need media coverage right now. In fact, p$ss on the media. I have watched last night's game 3 times today. I saw a team that came to play and they did. Doing that again is a no-brainer. I only hope that I can see Charlie Berry do his primitive African dance-step again after he pulls an RB down.

You may need to forgive me somewhat for the original post...

I got home from the game, went straight to the cable to see what the sports networks were saying about it... was up until after 3am trying to see something other than the score rolling across the bottom of the screen, then up early with kids and back to the tube for some commentary, but all I could find was the pseudo-blurbs that were less than satisfying... it had me a little touchy, LOL.

Luckily, my wife was there to ::ahem:: redirect me

Feel better now, looking forward to aTm regardless what the media is or is not saying.

GO MUSTANGS!!!

They had the highlights on ESPN while I was at Milo's after the game. I watched all of the Sunday sports shows last night to see how they would handle the highlights and FOX, NBC and ABC all showed higlights and gave us props. The guy on CBS did mention the win but did not show any clips. I think considering that the Cowboys had a big win and they will always get 90% of the coverage when they play it was good recognition from the media. I was even watching a morning show (I think it was CBS) and they showed the highlights this morning.

SMU was one of the headlines on espn.com on sunday and monday. In fact, SMU was mentioned in three different articles on espn.com on monday. Talk about great national exposure!
