apart from the blocked punt - mentzel was great - 1yrd line rip off and laying a lick on the return man
FGs - awful! Step up son - we know you can do it...

The son that needs to step up is the snapper. McMurtry can kick. Snaps were high and holder did a good job of bringing them down. Just threw off the timing. I remember 3 years ago we could not make an extra point.

Agreed, it looked like several snaps to the holder were high.
I would think this could throw off the kickers timing even if the holder manages to bring it down.
Hopefully we can get this rectified because it could easily cost us a ballgame.

McMurtray's a very good kicker. Duke Hasson showed great hands on some of those snaps!
And the blocking has got to get better -- two punts and a FG getting blocked in two weeks can't go on.

we could have had real trouble on the last snap if Duke Hasson didn't make a great grab on that last place kick-that thing was sailing about 10 yards past the holders and that probably would have been a TCU score.

Mentzel is a badass. He ought to be getting more recognition. I swear that one punt went out of bounds on the one. And he made a good tackle on Rogers in the 1st quarter.
We need to work on deep snapping the ball. I think we use the fact that Pamela Anderson is dating the Chargers' deep snapper as a recruiting tool for the position. "Chicks dig deep snappers."

Mentzel has a good leg, and he has to deal with alot of pressure, but its been my feeling that he needs to get rid of the ball a little quicker. He seems to hold it a split second too long to me.

He also shanked one in the third quarter. In his defense, he had to scoop up ANOTHER bad snap.

I loved the tackle he made. Head across the bow, good angle at impact and some drive.

Where is the blocking on punts?? We better work on special teams more than anything else this week.
