The Hardline on SMU

Not sure if they were told to talk up SMU or what, but something unprecedented just occurred on the Hardline. They spent 10 minutes giving our football team and fans credit.....saying that the pre-game festivities on The Boulevard is one of the coolest in college football.....that SMU completely outplayed TCU and that the victory was no fluke. All (Hammer, Ryner and Snake) agreed that things really may be turning around on the Hilltop. Not that I listen everyday or that it matters, but I'm fairly sure that is a first.

That is definitely a first EVER! I think it probably had to do with the fact they were doing a remote before the game with Corby etc. - BUT it's very good to hear and very unexpected coming from those baseball idiot's mouths. If it wasn't for Corby, I would not listen at all.

One game is not "turning" the corner but it's a start :)

yeah like Corby's SO COOL! He's a tool too. But I'm telling you Boulevard Mania(TM-Intellectual Property of Stallion) is sweeping this state right now. Go to the Baylor Board, Go To the TCU Board, listen to the Ticket. They know our setting blows their scattered dusty parking lot atmospheres away. I don't think we really realize what we got. We have the most unique, cool setting for Classic Tail-Gating in the State Of Texas and that includes College, Pro, Football, Baseball, Minor League or whatever. a pro franchise would pay several million dollars to create a family friendly atmosphere that would look commercial and pale in comparison to the Boulevard. Hell the Frisco Roughriders attract families who could care less about minor league baseball-and it simply doesn't compare. As a matter of fact I be willing to bet if Russ Potts was here today we would be selling the Boulevard Experience before bothering with the on field product. Why isn't there are Pinned Post on this board where people could post what we all see on the Boulevard-not just chicks but the entire family friendly experience. Why doesn't SMUMUSTANGS.com have a prominently displayed link with picture after picture of the Boulevard. Why doesn't our press guide which is used in recruiting have pages and pages on the Boulevard-just take out all the crap generally in there about our post DP history-we have none-sell the BOULEVARD. I bet demographics would show that SMU generally loses its fans from age 22-35-this is the exact group who need to be sold on the Boulevard.

I have touted the might 'Vard on this board and the MM board since day one. Hot chicks, cold beer. What more need be said. Then you got so-called fans coming on here complaining about the the way the chicks dress and calling them sluts. Unbelievable!!

Stallion's right. The game-day atmosphere is (sadly) the best thing about our football program right now. We must sell it.

yep, the Boulevard legend is growing. I think the current generation of students now is having a great college experience on the Vard (we didnt have such a thing) and will come back to it in the future as the nostalgia grows. But we MUST put a football team on the field that isn't beaten before it takes the field. You dont have to be UT, but you do have to have a respectable product that has a chance to win. No one wants to be associated with a chronic loser, not even to tailgate. You just have to play ball, win your share of games and compete with the mid level of D-1. Is that so hard?

One other thing, I think after a few years of tinkering with the setup, the South endzone is now on the mark. The kids love it down there and the season ticket holder tent is perfect to catch a glimpse of other games.

You ever been to a Baylor or TCU tailgate? Hard not to be better.
