I'm really not sure A&M can jam the ball down the throat anymore-that's just not what they do. Look at their running stats over the last few years and then subtract McNeil's scrambles. The Aggies probably average 100-120 yards rushing. Now the Aggies have better personnel at every position but its still not their game.
I am not predicting we will win, or anything crazy like that.
However, I do think that our defense actually matches up relatively well against A&M. Our weakness is going to be against power running teams. They spread it out, and pass first in order to set up the run. We are going to be able to play our 4-3 man/zone and use our safebackers (my new term) Nnabuife and McCray to spy a bit.
The key to our great pass defense thus far is that we have been pressuring the QB so much. Our secondary is improved, but the other teams haven't even been able to attempt deep balls because of our pressure. It will be interesting to see how our d-line performs this weekend, if we continue to blitz occasionally, and how much pressure we can put on McNeal.
