We have not earned the respect

that SMU wants. We have won one game against a good team.
After reading the paper, many are predicting that SMU loses by even more than the 28+ points.
It could happen I guess but I really think if we start fast we can hang in there.
Is A$M that good? Are we that small? I think we are quick on D and can really improve on O.
SMU will earn respect when we put a few good games together, more over, a few good years together.

Kirk Herbstreit gave us zero respect last night. How about the fact that TCU has only scored TD's on Utah and OU.

To be the best, one has to beat the best. And do it often. We have a win which has been oh so sweet. We need many more wins. A good showing against the Ags will not earn respect. We have to beat the Ags. One hopes that the huge margin of victory predict for the Ags is based on the stereotype that this is the old SMU of DP guilt days. We fans hope that last weeks domination over TCU is an indication of the real deal Ponies.
We beat the Ags this weekend, we get a little respect. We get blown out; we are assumed to be the same old pitiful Ponies. We barely lose to the Ags and it is written off as we got luck to be with them. The only way we get respect is to win.

Yes, they kep talking about how the TCU loss to SMU was such an embarassment. Patterson was asked what the SMU game meant and he said "you can't look past anybody."
Well I guess we have moved up to anybody from nobody.

If I'm A&M, TCU's victory over Utah (who pummelled the Aggies last year) probably makes me a little nervous about playing SMU. Add to that they we lost a close game to Baylor (who also beat the Farmers last year). On the other hand, it might just give our guys a little bit more confidence going into Kyle Field that this is a game that is not impossible and to play loose and tough. If they do that, who knows what could happen?

Exactly! The crewcuts are the ones with all the pressure- not us. Bennett needs to get them hyped up and have FUN. No one expects us to compete.

Herbstreit basically made fun of us last night. Besides all the "embarrassing to lose to SMU" references, when the toads appeared to be going for a fourth down in a risky situation Herby says something like i guess losing to SMU will cause you to take crazy chances. That was really uncool in front of a national tv audience.

Respect? SMU won 1 game and are 7- and 30something with Bennett. SMU doesn't deserve respect for a while...

exactly some of you guys are hilarious. It is perceived by the entire country that it is an embarrassment to lose to SMU.

Patterson was classier about it than the announcers. At least he's given Coach Bennett and the Ponies some credit.

I know that, my point is you rarely have national announcers taking jabs like that. Columnists maybe, radio hacks on the Ticket definitely, but hardly ever do the lead analysts for networks go out of their way to disparage people.

Not only that the whole CUSA is pissed at TCU and overjoyed that we blasted them.
