as the CUSA West race officially gets under way. Very interested to see how these two teams considered among the contenders look against each other.

UTEP is a 12 pt favorite at home.l

Injuries to both teams make this a big unknown.

I believe all the injuries are on defense. Look for a high scoring affair. :D

Wonder if they have mixed feelings about being the Friday night ESPN game. On one hand, they're the only game on, which is great. But on the other hand, there's not a single recruit in America who will see it.

generally true but I bet in the Metroplexes of Texas I bet a good 30% of the games are played on Thurdsay or Saturday these days to better utilize shared stadiums.

Heard that as of around 2 pm there is no parking at UTEP's Stadium.

I'll definately be cheerin on the Miners in this one..for obvious reason of hatred towards Houston.

let's see if UTEP packs the Sun Bowl for this one. I'm assuming UTEP will make a much better showing on national TV (crowd wise) than TCU showed last night. This will be a good game for CUSA to get some national exposure and have the appearance of big time football.

boring game...neither team looks good.

Right now score is:
Houston 9
UTEP 5

I wished we had played either of these two teams today. A total of 17 penalties and 8 Turnovers in the FIRST HALF. The team with 4 Interceptions-Houston-is somehow winning at half 16-5. Ebell looks extremely dangerous but every time he makes a big play he fumbles.

Briles halftime interview was priceless. The chick reporter mentioned that Kolb was struggling. His response: "I don't think he's struggling, I think he's playing like a dad-gum warrior and a champion!" A champion? The guy looks like Tony Eckert, for crying out loud. He was just psyched to have an 11 point lead, I guess. UTEP's stadium looks nice on TV, by the way.

Wow...Houston looks quite a bit better than I expected...although it appears that UTEP is now pulling away in the 4th.

Knuckle: did you catch that reporter's comment after she asked that question and Briles ran off...just as they switched to the studio and she thought her sound was off? She says: "damn"...as if to say...was he watching the same game I was? I think the guys in the studio heard it and were fighting back laughter.

I also want to congratulate UTEP on a good crowd. If they continue fielding competitive football and bball programs, they will be one of CUSA's leading programs as they can put 45-50,000 in the Sun Bowl and 10-12,000 in the Haskins Center. Memphis is the only other CUSA school that can generate those kind of numbers. The rest of us just need to do a better job of filling our smaller venues.

No CP, I missed the "damn" comment! Guess I was too busy laughing at Briles myself. Damn!

That's also the first time I've seen Mike Price's "entrance." Does this man have a flair for the dramatic, or what? It's almost like ancient Greek theatre or something. Or WWE. Apparently it was all his idea, and I have to commend him.
