Looks like the problem we have is that it is nobody's job according to the staff listing at smumustangs.com

Don't worry "Mario" (Donkey Kong) has had it under his wing for two years now!

Only problem is that Bennett does not see the need for a ST Coach.

That's right. There is no special teams coach.

Fraley DMN article indicates that the reason that SMU does not have a special teams coach is that Bennett prefers to spread the kicking-game responsibilities around the staff. This has worked so well that SMU has allowed 5 blocked punts in its last 13 games!

That number seems awful low to me.

Just listened to Homer Call of the Week on the Ticket. The only SMU-UNT candidate was the UNT broadcast of the blocked punt. The important point is the UNT broadcasters spent 45 seconds before the punt saying the special teams coach told them that they thought they had a good chance to block a punt against SMU.

That is sad if the opposing teams already know this.

Obviously, there was something they saw on film. Which begs the question, if it was so obvious, why wasn't it recognized and corrected?

It might be that freaking NTSU has a special teams coach as does every other team in C-USA and we don't have someone that spends their every waking moment improving our special teams play.
