Tulane fan here

Postby FW » Sun Sep 18, 2005 1:46 pm

Just wanted to stop by and say I'm looking forward to a good game this weekend.

Can someone give me a quick rundown of what to expect from SMU? I'll admit I know nothing about your team except seeing the scores of your games so far. If anyone wants any info on Tulane, let me know.

Welcome, FW.

After seeing all 3 games, I can give you a quick rundown:

[1] If we play like we did against TCWho, we'll kick your [deleted];
or
[2] If we play like we did against A&M, you'll kick our [deleted].

Welcome to PonyFans.com. One thing I hope you can expect from SMU is a huge ovation for the Green Wave and a warm welcome from the PonyFans. On the field .... hope you get something close to the team that beat TCU!

Thanks FW for the post.

For the Mustangs, this is a 'gut check' game. If we hang our heads after the a** kicking in College Station, then this will be another long season.

The embarassment can take us in two directions, which will it be? Learn and act accordingly or concede before kick-off.

Phil, you are on the clock

I'm really looking forward to this game. It's hard...you want SMU to win, but you know everything that Tulane has been through, they deserve a win too. I hope we all show the Green Wavers some real Texas hospitality.

So we should spot them a couple of TD's before we start? I feel bad for all those touched by Katrina, but Tulane decided to continue their season and compete. Nobody deserves a win in NCAA play, they're earned. That goes for us too. SMU needs to step up and earn a win. I'm tired of being felt sorry for and excues being made. We simply need to win!

Very true. Guess I meant more that if Tulane earned a good win on Saturday, wouldn't be quite as dissapointed as when, say, Tech beat us a couple years back at home after we played em tough all game.

fw--i saw about a fourth of the tulane game last saturday. tulane offense looks a lot like the smu offense with everybody spread out along the line of scrimmage, lots of receivers and similar passing scheme. in fact, this looks to me like a very even game and your coach is probly right when he says the team that makes the least mistakes probably wins. so now you are ahead by one in the coaching cliche department. i wish somebody who knows more about football would give us all a bit more of a comparison review. i do know if you have a good kick returner, that's worth a touchdown agains us.

I'd say for the 4th week in a row that Tulane's QB has performed at a consistently higher level than our QB for starters.

Stallion that's an intersting quip since Tulane has played only one game.

What's wrong with Romo anyway? He can run and pass. I have no problem whatsoever with him. Apparently you do. The uneducated always blame the QB or coach. Evidently you have chosen the QB.

...what Tulane has been through? Forget Tulane... what about what WE'VE been through? I wish we could beat'em by 58.

We had a great kick returner who had returns for TD's against TCU and UAB but he's out for the year.

We do run a spread offense and our QB will probably be the 4th straight we send to the NFL, but he looked rusty on Saturday and our WR's are for the most part all new.
