I want to begin w/ that fact that my two favorite teams are in this order
SMU
Texas A&M

But i hate Fran, i have lost a lot of respect for him.. eventhough he had a clause in his contract at alabama he lied to those kids and their families and jetted tuscaloosa for college station.
6 years ago i was a freshman on the football team in cavan's last year and they killed us 60 something to very little.. and this game this weekend, what the hell was he doing running up the score..

was it completely necessary for reggie mcneal to be goin deep when they were already up 45-8 to be goin deep on the first play of the drive and just rubbing in the fact that we were beaten.. once it was 45-8 fran should have said run the ball for the rest of the game...

this is the second time that I have had to watch fran do this us and I think it is absolute BS...

speaking of running up the score how sorry does Leach keep making himself look putting up 80 points against a D 1 AA team

if this doesn't make perfect sense i am completely dead from this weekend and my brain is working at half speed

I don't mean to be or sound negative, but what were you expecting the Aggies to do in the middle-end of the 3rd quarter with most starters pulled; Sit there and let you try to score?

I give my respects to the Aggies... as much as I dislike them. They played a good game; and as to running-up the score... I believe they could have easily topped 80 on you...

I agree that Reggie shouldn't have been in there, but I have no problem with throwing the ball. Gotta get our backup QBs some reps too.

A&M threw 1 pass the entire 4th quarter! Reggie McNeal is trying to be a legit Heisman candidate, throwing the ball in the 3rd quarter to me isn't anything to get upset about. If Reggie had been in there in the 4th throwing it would be another thing. Reggie also needs like 20 passing TDs this year to be the all time leader in A&M history so their agenda is not to embarrass SMU but to help Reggie get some records and maybe get him into the Heisman race and get him invited to NY. Throwing a TD with over 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter is not rubbing it in a team's face!

Is that the same as trying to be an illegitimate Heisman candidate? Reggie McNeal has about as much chance of being the Heisman trophy winner as I do.

Go get ready for your 'game' against the Div. 1-AA Texas State University - San Marcos Bobkitties. That contest should impress the Heisman selection committee.

As much as I hate the result, I can't berate a college coach for keeping starters in through three quarters.

we should be thankful they didn't hang 90 on us- however, Leach is a different story

According to aggie coaches and players, they played poorly in the first half. We should be thankful they didn't score 100 on us. That was the worst tackling display I have ever seen, lack of pride and guts came into play. I had three players parents tell me, that a number of our players just quit in the second half. What a game for Fox SW to put on, humiliation in College Station. If your team hasn't won a road game since the Grand Canyon was a crack, play SMU. If you want to shatter personel and team record after record, you know who to schedule. That was the most points a&m has ever scored on SMU, passing the 1991 65-7 game. Our offense couldn't score a point in the second half, even after the aggies had their second, third, and fourth string players in!

Damn, you're starting to sound like the posters you've chastised before, the guys who seem to want to be negative, just for the sake of being negative. Does that make you feel rebellious and edgy? Ooooooh!

Everyone saw the second-half explosion -- their depth and athleticism wore us out, and it showed. However, I like to think the Mustangs had something to do with A&M "playing poorly" in the first half. We gave a hell of an effort in the first half, and now let's crank it up another notch for Tulane.

you are not making any sense...the only person I have repeatedly chastised is Stallion and every week that I read he has something negative to say. Had we not flinched on the goaline and if romo would tuck the damn ball the game would have been different... once he fumbled on the goaline that was the end of it.

Well I think Leinart pretty much has the Heisman unless he gets hurt. But I think Reggie has a chance to get invited to NY.

A&M had much better athletes than SMU in 94 and 95 but there was alot more effort in those two years than in the 66-8 rout on Saturday

Fran did not try to run up the score. In fact, if you go back and watch the replay, you can see him giving his 3rd string qb a "keep it down" signal with his hands palms down, as he sent in the final sneak play. (As if to say run a sneak, but don't try too hard to get in the end zone.) And that's exactly what the qb did. It may have been the most half-assed quarterback sneak I've ever seen.

Keep in mind that it was only 24-8 at halftime, which is a 2 score game. There's no reason they shouldn't have been playing all out in the third quarter. We just showed 0 interest in stopping them.

Fran could have pulled Reggie earlier (to both avoid the risk of injury in a game already decided and to get a look at your backups), but I'm not going to fault the guy or accuse him of running up the score. The simple truth is we were outmanned and totally defeated when things got out of hand. Fran called off the dogs in that 4th quarter and I'm not sure that was fair to A$M's back ups. Those guys work hard and don't want to be told to take a knee when they finally get into a game.

As Spurrier says "if you don't like it, go get better players". I agree with those who say we aren't ready for these games but gotta admit we do get a lot of interest playing our former SWC foes (and it does help us see how far we've come...and in this case how far we still have to go)
