Mustang Mardi Gras!!!

Image

Perfect promotion. It is our duty, PonyFans, to make this THE best Boulevard experience to date. Call all your friends, get them out there... for the 'Vard. For Tulane. For New Orleans... and for the game...

The Boulevard becomes Bourbon Street as SMU vs.Tulane offers a celebration of New Orleans. Beads, jazz, and Cajun food will be part of the festivities, which will culminate in the Mustangs-Green Wave matchup at 7 p.m. in Ford Stadium and the halftime presentation of a check to Conference USA for the Katrina Relief Fund benefiting the American Red Cross.

And buy some tee shirts!!! (All proceeds go to the Red Cross.)

Kudos to the athletic department. Now let's get out there early on Saturday and have an all day party.

See you Saturday,
Thaddeus

There is something about this that seems inappropriate. NO is suffering and we are having a Mardi Gras party? Sounds insesnsitive at best. I guess I just don't get it.

Yes. Red T-shirt, with the above logo on the back. You can buy and see the picture at mustanglockerroom.com.

It gave me pause too. Something downright irreverent about the whole thing.

When I first read it... I felt a little sick... but then I thought about it... It's intended to be a celebration of New Orleans. It might be in poor taste, but then I decided you know what - I was really happy with the way we all welcomed the Tulane football team. How much they felt like family walking down our 'Vard... and then, I felt okay. In the sense that, if we all handle this the RIGHT way this could be something special.

I had an entire note about this very subject in my original posting... but then I went back and edited it out, because I just felt, let's be positive about this, and do something positive.

Take lemons and make lemonade....

Perhaps it's in poor taste, perhaps it's exercising poor judgement... but I think in the end, our fans will take this the right way, and will make this special.

Somebody bring a digital camera because there's got to be some flashing of [deleted] for beads, and I can't make the game.

Besides, it's not JUST a promotion (that would make me uneasy), but the proceeds from selling the shirts will go to Katrina victims.

I do not agree with the "PC Police".

IMO, the reason for Mardi Gras theme is to acknowledge Tulane, NO, and the "Quarter" before the game. Their FB team was here & got to hang around SMU. And aren't the Tulane golf teams still here?

The whole thing is tied into charitable sales of t-shirts & beads. There will be a presentation at halftime so that CUSA will make a donation to the Red Cross for Hurricane Relief.

The Blvd goes on each week-- this time some people took a moment and placed a little Cajun favor around it. I hope TU students and Alums come over & make it a true Mardie Gras.

.....
Wow- the PC Nazis are alive & well on the Hilltop.

admittedly I didn't sit tight in front of the whole game at tamu last week, but didn't they do an interview with some of the Tulane atheletes at tamu and several of them were wearing aggie t-shrits and I think I heard one of them say she was going to transfer and not go back to Tulane.....is it just me or does that seem sorry on her part to anyone else?

But back to the real issue. Is it just me or does it seem sorry that nobody has stepped up and committed to taking and posting pictures of ta-tas on Saturday? And please don't let me hear that any pony fans were passing out beads without requiring a little skin first. This is the 'vard, and we must milk it (no pun intended, probably) for the good of the program.
