GUT CHECK TIME!!!

It has taken me most of the week, but I finally watched all of the tape of our game with A&M. That was a completly gutless performance, we seem to be in slow motion, and had NO interest in playing tackle football. I know you sunshiners and parents will attack me, but I am not a casual fan, I have been watching the Ponies for over thirty five years. I buy my six season tickets and donate $ to the Mustang Club every year. I was in College Station Saturday, watching that disaster along with the Fox tv audience. What I and all Mustang fans should expect, is maximum effort and intensity EVERY game! This Tulane game is a must win! With road trips at Marshall and UAB, we must have victory! Come on Stangs, play like men! Earn respect!

Dave South said on the broadcast of Texas A&M/Texas State that the Aggie offensive line had 78 knockdown blocks. We were not just old of gas-we were soundly beaten--in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

A&M is not playing with near the intensity tonight like they did against us. That probably was due to them losing their opener, having a bye week and us having beaten TCU in the meantime.

Cant talk you out of your opinion Alex, because its frustrating to spend time and cash to travel to a road game and then have that kind of performance. I do think we came out with good effort, but just got physically and emotionally beaten down. Having said that, I also expect a big effort against Tulane.

You're right, Hoop. To call the performance gutless is armchair quarterbacking at its finest. Anyone who saw the game saw an SMU team that stood toe-to-toe with the Aggies in the first half before Reggie McNeal went nuts in the second half and sucked the wind out of our sails. We got beaten by a better team -- that's not a crime. But our guys showed up and played hard, at least for a while. There's no point in taking shots at people now. Or you could go completely nuts and encourage the team in its upcoming game with Tulane rather than dwelling on history that can't be changed now.

hmm Texas State got 493 yards Total Offense-they could have scored more as they went knocking on the door several times. QB was about 75% on the Nite.

Sunshiner. Gutless is a good description, especially for the "tacklers" on our defense last week, and the "recievers" on offense.

I was encouraged by our passing performance against A&M until watching Texas State last night, they made A&M's defense look horrible- A&M is in for trouble if they do not get heir defense fixed before the Big 12 starts

Not bad for a Div. 1-AA team, huh?

yeah why don't you go over to their board and discuss "how great" it was.

You're the one who brought it up.

We have not played a game yet, that wasn't marred with sloppy play and mistakes. Let's hope Saturday, we put it all together! Go Stangs!!!

Oh contraire, we had a great defensive effort against TCU. Our defense faced many adversities and rose to the occasion. Our offense did an admiral job and it was the special teams that ultimately hurt us. If we play like we did against TCU, we win.
