Worst loss:

You guys could give us some credit. Almost every publication had Tulane contending for the C-USA West title and winning 7-9 games. We're a good team that returned 10 starters on defense and 7-8 on offense from a 5-6 team.

I did-thought you would contend for CUSA West. Nobody noticed you held an SEC team to 10 First Downs.

Sorry, Stallion, I don't mean to be contrarian today, but...Mississippi State is really not very good. They've lost 16 straight against other SEC West teams and lost 28-0 against a weak(er than last year) Auburn team.

Tulane ended the season strong last year until Richard got hurt-they returned about 20 starters beat TCU at Amon Carter with a bowl game on the line, and replaced several difficult games with creampuff CUSA West-why wasn't this team given more respect. They played Championship defense two weeks in a row.

If it makes you feel any better (I know it won't) we do have the #1 total defense in the nation.

Hey FW do you remember an SMU fan coming on your fan forum the day that you hired Eric Schumann and telling the Tulane fans that they just hired one of the best in the business. BTW I don't know if you remember this but Tulane was statistically one of the worst defenses in the country the year before Schumann took over-FW maybe you could help me with this but I believe they were giving up more than 40 points per game. From what I've seen the last two weeks they have made a miraculous transformation since Tulane hired Schumann-we want him back.

In 2001 Tulane gave up around 41 points per game and gave up 70 points to BYU, 51 to ECU, 48 to LSU and 59 to Southern Miss. We couldn't stop anyone.

In 2002 Tulane gave up 20 points per game, led the nation in takeaways.

No doubt...Eric Schumann is one hell of a good defensive coach. He would probably still be here if we had not hired a DC to be our head coach...something about a difference of philosophy on defensive schemes.

It was truly unfortunate that Bennett's egomania prevented him from being 'just' the HEAD coach and retaining Schumann as the D-Coordinator. Perhaps our offensive ills would have been furthered as well if he had a hands off approach to Larry Kueck as well (who has a history of high octane offenses).

So far, something is clearly keeping Rusty's offense from being "high octane" as well.
