Glad we could be the (sad excuse for a) team that could give poor old Tulane their first WIN! We're such a good bunch!

They don't even have a school, homes, a stadium or a workout facility. But they had the mental toughness and edge to beat the cr@p out of the Ponies.

We should officially change our name to "the Ponies" and make our colors pink and green. Bennett could wear a dress and hand out tea and crumpets at halftime.

Bennett should be fire immediately. SMU football is an absolute disgrace.

....but they did have former SMU defensive coordinator Eric Schumann who coached Bennett and Rusty Burns out of their jock-strap. Held Mississippi St to 10 First Downs last week-which apparently none of the cheerleaders on this board seemed to notice when claiming Tulane "ain't that good". It was a crime for this school to let Schumann get away. It is incredible that Schumann doesn't get a BCS job. If he ever gets great talent on defense he will be as good as there is in the business.

What, you think we should've hired Schumann instead of Bennett for HC? Or, should we have told Bennett, "You're hired. But you gotta keep Schumann." ? I'm sure any new hire would agree to that. And I'm sure SMU fans, who were ready for Cavan's head, would've loved to hear that some of the coaches were sticking around. Sure.

OK since you brought it up Stallion's Plan if you remember was to hire Charlie Waters to "sell" the SMU program, retain Eric Schumann as Defensive Coordinator because he is one of the best in the business and would ease any concerns about Waters' 2 year absense from being a BCS and NFL Defensive Coordinator-then go out and spend some money and find the best damn Offensive Coordinator money can buy. Come to think of it-THAT WAS A HELL OF A PLAN! We would be a lot better off even defensively than we are today. And you can't get worse than an offensive shutout at home. Please spare me from those that worry only about hiring the best "ballcoach" for this job. SMU desperately needs a SALESMAN for this job. Let the coordinators to worry about the rest.

Stallion, when will you realize what I have in that most who post on this board are absoute morons. I thought the same thing watching the game. Tulane's D coordinator used to coach at SMU. Why did they get rid of him? Bennett was outcoached today.

While I don't think the idea is that bad, wasn't that the theory behind the Forrest Gregg hire with Rossley as OC?

Also, I think (if possible) we could use a bigger name than Charlie Waters to hype the program. We might get additional attention from the DMN, which might be a start, but we need to somehow get SMU back on the radar of the NCAA nation.
