Who thinks the WAC should expand to 12 and who doesn't - why?

There is a lot of talk about expansion in June. Who thinks we should and who thinks we shouldn't and why?

I have mixed feelings on the issue. On one hand, I would like to see a two division confrence, with a championship game in December just like the SEC and the BIG 12. I would only like this if we could get some quality teams to join the confrence. If expaning means adding teams that are barely division 1, then I am not in favor of it. OF course I am only looking at the football side of this.

I too have mixed feelings about expansion. The only plus I see is the reduction in travel with 2 six team divisions. There aren't any available schools that are going to boost the conference prestige or level of competition IMO. From the list of willing and available, my choice would be New Mexico State and Utah State.

GREAT TOPIC. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT I AM AGAINST ANY KIND OF ADDITION TO THE WAC, SIMPLY BECAUSE THERE ARE NO TEAMS OUT THERE THAT I WOULD WANT TO INCLUDE. IF WE COULD GET MARSHALL TO LEAVE THEIR CONFRENCE, THEN THAT WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION, BUT I DO NOT SEE IT HAPPENING.

It would seem the decision has already been made based upon the rumors out there. I am lukewarm on the issue. I always thought that if Fox, or ESPN, were willing to pony-up some money for a 12 team league by all means expand. If that doesn't happen, I don't see a huge benefit - although I will add that 12 teams is better than 10.

At this point i say go ahead and expand to 12. The addition of NM State and Utah State will not hurt any in that the further dilution of a small revenue base should be more than offset by the travel costs that can be saved by going to two divisions, particularly for the non revenue sports. Those schools actually increase our basketball viability at the same time. Allows a football championship game that would be exciting and give the WAC champ a little more clout in the bowl selections.

To me this has all been handled too quietly by the administrations of the schools. I am sure that expansion is a sensitive topic but some hint about the leanings would be nice.
I would like to see stronger schools available but the candidates are not that bad. Even Boise State will raise the level of WAC football based on last season.
The TV contract is an extremely big concern. When we expand there should be some $$ attached to the TV deal not just some statements that the deal should get better, blah, blah, blah...
