Copeland said Bennett's job isn't on the line and that, "we have a long season."

Last December, Bennett signed a two-year contract extension through 2008. He has a base salary of $450,000 and has produced seven wins in 39 games.

"I'm going to coach as hard as I can," Bennett said. "I believe in these kids, and I'm not going to let anything distract us. That's the last time I will speak [about my job status.]."

In a recent meeting, athletic board members told Copeland they were frustrated about the direction of the football program. ~ HOW ABOUT WE ARE ALL FRUSTRATED FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS!!

I wonder how much Copeland makes? :?:

For those of you who complain that SMU does not get enough coverage in the DMN, how'd you like to get a "Mild Horses" front page headline week in and week out. Actually a pretty funny play on words, I thought.
