The deck furniture is officially being rearranged on the S.S. Mustang. I like Phil, but he is starting to get Cavanitis. I don't know if anyone saw his quote after the A&M game, but he said "It's obvious we're not ready for prime time". While that may be true, you can't say that as a leader, certainly not just one week after knocking off our rival and #22 ranked team in the country. The team responded by laying down against Tulane, and quite frankly, I don't see any reason for them to get up for Marshall. Hell, I'm not even excited anymore.

after everything that has been said about the team "laying down" in the second half against the aggies, and rolling over for tulane....... if they are EVER going to show any backbone, it would be saturday. if they can't circle the wagons now, it's time to pronounce this team DOA.

Stallion will be partying tonight with the announcement his favorite player is starting at QB...Tony "Tip" Eckert.
It would have been nice to see the article mention who is starting at running back. And why in the hell is Chase not starting? Foolish. Bennett has lost his damn mind.

I hope I am wrong, but I sense a looming disaster tomorrow. With Eckert at the helm, we'll be lucky for 100 yards total offense. Lots of 3 and outs and the obligatory tipped passes.

What's the definition of insanity we've all been told a million times? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different outcomes. Where is Chris Phillips? Has PB been sniffing glue?

why didnt PB wait to announce anything, just makes him look really foolish. i would imagine Chase is benched based on the remarks in the WV paper?

Un-freaking-believable.

If this is punishment for his interview then that is ridiculous. I don't think he was dropping any bombshells in that interview, nor did he say anything that wasn't painfully obvious to anyone with any sense. I am tired of this charade. Someone put me out of my misery.

No it's not. Don't ever give up on our guys. I agree that this decision is .... confusing, to say the least, but we can not abandon our team.

I will never abandon our team. But I have now abandoned our coaching staff. They are hope/helpless!

You know, there were times last year when Eckert played quite well, and people started to use words like "gunslinger" -- which I think is just a term for a guy with a strong arm and not too much mobility. Whatever the reason, he hasn't had that this year. I don't know if he's banged up, if there's a mechanical change in his throwing motion, or if his confidence is shot because of the QB rotation. Here's hoping that getting back in the starting lineup gives him a renewed burst of confidence, and that he shows some of the talent we saw last year. I believe there is talent in there, and what better game to show it in than this one?

Not to worry…after seeing them all spring and summer, PB decided on Eckert as our starting QB for the year. That lasted all of 2 series against Baylor. Who’s not to say it won’t happen again this Saturday?

My only question is if PB is using this position as a revolving door, why not Phillips, if even for a couple of series...what, is Mr. 7-32 afraid he might lose?? Can’t he figure out that if he is lucky enough to hang around next year, he will be on a amazingly short leash with his future most likely be in the hands of Chris Phillips?????

Obviously, Eckert showed the most fire in practice this week and was more decisive with his throws. So he has been named the starter. I have no problem with that. Our o-line is what hampers him from doing well. Romo is a gamer, and fights for yardage, but Eckert is more of an aggressive QB.

On the B. Chase thing, I am not sure if that has to do with the article or not. It seems like it would have to be more than a coincidence. However, one thing to keep in miind is that we are replacing a player who is more of a possession style receiver with pure speed. I believe that these moves indicate that the "simplification" of the offense means that we are going to try and run the ball first and then throw the ball deep a lot to force the defense to loosen up. Lowery has speed to attract attention from a safety, and Pellerin has the size to be able to handle a corner in single coverage. Theoretically, of course ;).

Urbanus decision is interesting. We gave up a lot of pressure up the middle last week, is he starting over Keischnick? That is what I think is happening. Mabye BK hasn't fully recovered from that ankle problem.

Isn't that the same thing?
