One of the few with passion and drive to WIN gets benched?
I sure hope this is a stunt to throw the Marshall coaches off.
How about calling a play where the pass crosses the line of scrimmage.
Good Grief#$^*#%*@$!^^@*)^(*!#^#$@*

I like the idea of starting Lowry--BUT NO AT WR! This is insane. He should be playing the inside spot. Benching Chase is but one of the reasons this won't go on much longer. Personnel management on this team is horrible.
Eckert at QB? Been there done that. I give it 1 1/2 quarters before Romo comes back in.
With this o-line the QB has to be able to get out of the way. This o-line doesn't do look-out blocks. They barely get the look part out of their mouths before it all comes crashing down.
Since we can't pass block I suggest we run the ball on every single play. Play 2 TEs and hand it off from under center. Only throw when you can afford the sack.

Maybe Chase can play catch with Phillips on the sidelines and we can see what it looks like for a D1 QB to throw to a D1 WR.

This is coaching Lunacy! Benching Chase and Starting Eckert! My God!
I have now lost all faith in Bennett. The man cannot coach.
My faith slipped last year when he made that God-awful decision to go for 2 against Tulsa which very nearly cost us the game. Darkness has now descended on his coaching ability.
WHAT IS THIS MAN THINKING!!!!!????

As I mention on the blog, Chase is the 2004 offensive MVP. The guy leads the team in receiving and did so last year. And basically, we have had three quarterback changes in a week.
This is lunacy.

Chase leads the team in EVERY statistical category for receiving.
Kennedy has 3 catches in 4 games for 10 yards.
I feel like SMU football has become Bizzaro World.

The only positive that I can pull out of benching Chase is that he will probably end up lining up in the slot when we go to three or four man sets. I actually like this matchup as he is a big body to go over the middle and he can easily burn a linebacker and an average safety.
However, I still like his size on the outside when we have 2 WR set (I know this is rare).
It is very coincidental that this came shortly after the comments in the paper. I wonder if Bennett doesn't want any of his players talking to the press.
Anyway, if we won't throw it to a big tight end with good hands, maybe we will throw it to a big WR in the slot, but without Chase on the outside, Eckert just lost a security blanket.

maybe he has a torn rotator cuff injury that will not require surgery.

What did he say that was so inflammatory. I didn't see the article.

Nothing.
He and the team need to work harder and have a attitude and finish plays.

The more I think about it, the more I think we're overreacting. Whatever the reason for the move, I feel confident Bobby Chase will not be on the bench long. To me, this almost sounds like a hockey game that Mike Modano doesn't start. Maybe he's not on the first shift, but he'll still be out there most of the game.

Maybe benching your most productive WR is some knd of coaching genius. This is not hockey or basketball. Are we using him as a 6th man to give us a boost? I can't think of a way to spin this that is credible.

Well stallion should be happy Lowery does put more speed on the field, he is surely not a 4.6, 40 guy, though he might be 4.6 drops per game guy. He look flat out awful against TCU last year, but maybe hes worked out that drop problem, along with the fear of getting hit problem.

If nothing else, he's added 10-15 pounds of muscle since last year. He should be able to take a hit now.
And shouldn't Blake Warren be in the mix, too? We haven't thrown to him much this year, but he's made some really tough catches. That kid is fearless.
