PonySnob,

You obviously DON'T have a CLUE! It was the offense that was PATHETIC. The defense was forced to play almost the ENTIRE game! A few drives by the offense in the second half would have been very helpful to the ability of the defense to make plays near the end!

Ponymon,
Not true. We had them on time of possession:

41:11 to 33:49

I disagree. This loss is squarley on the offense and Rusty Burns. All we needed late in the 4th quarter when we got the ball back after the Marshall touchdown was to get one, maybe two first downs and that would have been ball game. But this chicken-sh!t spread offense goes three-and-out. It was like giving Marshall an early Christmas present.

Somebody please explain this offense to me. It seems to me that with our current personnel, we are trying to shove a square peg into a round hole. We have no ability to run the ball even though I think we've got speed and talent at the RB position. 34 carries and 40 yards rushing yesterday. Our pass blocking is suspect. Why do our running plays take so long to develop? If I see one more inside draw out of the shotgun, I might go down to the sideline and smack Rusty Burns square in the mouth.

With our personnel and lack of depth, I have no problem with our defense. What I want is more and better personnel. We should win if we hold a team to 10 points in regulation regardless of how much bend and don't break they play.

Jeez, I can't believe an entire thread was asted debating whether of offense is worse than our defense. Now hear this: We suck in every aspect of the game, and have for 16 years now.

Come on Snob - 10 points in four quarters is pitiful? You don't think that should win a lot of games? It's the offense that needs to get untracked. Neither side is playing great, but the defense wasn't bad yesterday. Yeah, they got some yards, but the primary statistic is that number on the scoreboard, and we damn-near pitched a shutout yesterday.

that may have true-but they didn't deserve to win. If I'm wrong explain to me why the Marshall defense didn't deserve to win too when they were much more effective the entire game 413 -193 total offense and 27-7 on first downs. That's the defense that definitely outplayed the other and the one that deserved to win the ballgame.

Perhaps we're splitting hairs here, but I would contend that both defenses deserved to walk off the field yesterday with a victory. It was our offense that came up short.

Somebody has to win these types of games. It just never seems to be us. I give it a draw betweeen o and d ineptitude. Rematch set for next fall. Don King promoting. Pay per view. See it live in Vegas. Pillows issued at the door.

Some good points made by all, but I generally agree with Soprano. Why do try to run the plays we do?? It was obvious that marchall was stronger inside, as has been most of our opponents. Why does Burns insist on plays that take long to develop? (And look at the results?) Why do I scream at the TV for us to run some quick passing plays, get Romo out, and git rid of it fast? Soprano, if you go to hit Burns, let me know, 'cause I want to be next.

Rag on the D, but they kept us in the game. Yes, marshall EVENTUALLY got yardage, but come on, they kept them out of the endzone. Isn't that their ultimate goal. My only complaint is that as in the last two game, there is some poor tackling going on. This did hurt us.

I want to give the staff a little more time, but as posted elsewhere, COPELAND has got to go NOW. SMU needs to make true the promise of the COMMITMENT.

Go Ponies!
