It is great that the WAC has another bowl to send its teams to. I hope that we can have our first year coach take us to the first hawaii bowl.

Can't agree with you more. There's way too many bowls already - I seriously doubt many kids grew up hoping to be the MVP of the galleryfurniture.com Bowl - but if this increases the WAC's television exposure, I'm all for a chance to fly to Hawaii for Christmas to cheer Coach Bennett and the Ponies to a bowl win.

the Hawaii bowl exists because of what happened to Hawaii last year. They had a very good year and were left with nowhere to go. The previous Hawaii bowl games failed because Hawaii went thru some lean years where they didn't get the required 6 wins. Don't hold your breath for a Hawaii trip (at least in the post season) to happen anytime soon.

On the plus side, look for the WAC to use that Hawaii deal with CUSA as leverage for an invite to either Ft Worth or Houston for one of the WAC East schools. Just a hunch, but I will lay you pretty nice odds for that happening.

If SMU makes the Hawaii bowl, I'm spending Christmas on the beach!
