UAB game

No one has really said anything about the SMU-UAB game per se so I thought I would kick it around a bit.

From Coach Nacho,
UAB has a big ol' QB who looks like a good one. They got some gooduns on their lines. They pass real well and they can run too. On D they defend the pass and stop the run about as well as anyone we will play this season. Oh and their special teams are real good. Should be a tough one for us but the guys have been practicing pretty good all week and we'll just have to get after it and do our best. We have to play a perfect game to beat these guys. We can't beat ourselves. We have a young team starting this new true fresman QB so we need to simplfy the offense. I wish we could play a more experienced guy but me and the other coaches don't think he is slim enough. Well that's about all I got. Now let's get out there and win one for the Sunshiners.

what's that old saying about "going ugly early"? Oh no, that doesn't apply to football...although this one could get ugly early. I just hope we are competitive. We are all doing enough whining. I hate to think of what another 48-3 game might bring to this board.

If you are UAB, how in the world do you get up for one of the worst, if not the worst team in div. 1? I think that is our best chance of keeping it somewhat close.

Rogers and Bonds and Haywood and the boys up front had better be ready -- UAB's offensive line is the best we'll see all year. I read where one of their OTs is considered a high draft prospect, possibly even a first-rounder.

Guess we know how UAB feels about playing SMU since we are their homecoming opponent.

I had actually considered driving over for this game (only about a 6 hr drive for me) but I fear another blowout and I will probably be in a bad enough mood after watching the internet broadcast. Sure don't need a 6 hr drive home sulking all the way. I'd rather jump on this board and start whining. Misery does love company. I am definitely losing my enthusiasm for this program. It's an insult being scheduled for anyone's homecoming. I wonder if our guys are aware of that and will play as if it upsets them?
