Bennett is an absolute joke of a head coach. Period! Even the hint of taking a red-shirt off of a qb this late in the season is ridiculous. Bennett should be fired now. Let Burns take over for the remainder of the season and start your head coaching search for next year. For all of the Phillips haters on this board (or Bennett buddies [same thing]), Phillips looked pretty damn good in the red/blue game and scrimmages. And he is not playing? Makes you wonder.

What on earth would make you think Burns could do a better job in the interim? The offense is the biggest problem. And last I looked, Burns was QB coach, too.

At least Burns would not take the redshirt off of a freshman qb halfway through a loser season. I know that much. Bennett is a desparate man. Firing Bennett now would show the alumni and students that still follow the team that losing is not tolerated (at least losing like this).

Maybe you haven't been following for the last 16 years, but losing is tolerated on the Hilltop.

Well, if Phillips wants to transfer, Texas will probably be needing another talented QB next year.

How do you know that Burns would not condone de-redshirting Phillips. Did you ask him? Maybe it was his idea.

If Willis is going to be the QB of our future, might as well get him on the field. After all, he will still have 3 more full seasons and next year is likley the make or break year for this coaching staff. With almost the entire offense coming back and a softer non-conference schedule in 2006, I'd sure like to see a QB on the field that at least has SOME game experience.
I'd rather see Phillips and Willis at this point than Romo. No offense to Romo because he's given his all, but unless he can find a way to beat UAB Saturday, it's time to start preparing for next year.

God help us. If you burn Willis' redshirt, you better play him every down for the rest of the year. Of course, what happens if he sucks?-then you can't play him every down. Give Phillips a shot now!
This year is the make it or break it year for this coaching staff-not next. We're delaying the inevitable otherwise I second the sentiment to make sure though that Copeland goes first.

The order doesn't matter...they can help each other pack either way.

Hey PK,
If you were Turner, would you fire Copeland and PB?

At this point, I'm ready to fire Turner and the whole Board of Trustees...why stop at PB and JC? The fact of the matter is that there are a whole lot of problems besides the AD and football coach. With the snails pace of reforming the recruiting restrictions and the lack of appropriate majors for athletes it's hard to know who to blame, so let's just clean the whole house out and try again.
Hey, I actually really like these guys, but the results are just totally unacceptable. I'm not going to live for ever and it's beginning to look like that is how long it's going to take to get SMU back to where it ought to be at the rate we are going now.

Ahh, screw it! Let's just drop football all together and implode Ford Stadium. We can put the Dubya War Museum there.

No need to implode Ford Stadium...the double wide will fit nicely on the field as is.

I hope you are joking....
But if you are not, it's the dumbest thing I have seen. Forget all the positives Turner is doing academically and for the campus. Let's fire a very well regarded man because he hasn't yet fixed a program that was an absolute mess when he got here...
I love football very very much. But I would never fire a President of SMU for football reasons...Especially given the way our program has been for 20 years now...
