It's shocking

It's shocking...that you guys could still be posting on this board after that disgusting take-the-cake performance against Marshall. You guys all saw the 8 minute slow-motion train wreck that occurred that day, and yet you're back on this board talking about what we might do differently to eek out 4 wins.

It's shocking...that you could care after that. I know I was screaming at the internet video obscenities and curses to "Romo the worthless ____" and "Bennett the j@ck@ss." I said I would never watch the Mustangs again after that abortion.

It's shocking...that I'm unable to stop caring about this team, that I had to come back to this frickin' board to check in on "the latest." I said I was done after Marshall. But, nevertheless, I find myself back for more...I'm as pathetic as all of you. Ah, the depressing life of a loyal SMU Football fan...

battered wife syndrome.

All things change eventually. SMU will either start competing and winning once in awhile or it will go away. I'm miserable, but I am waiting for positive change and I'll wait as long as it takes I guess.

SMU is an addiction that only a select few have. Luckily it is not more widespread.

Granted, I along with the rest have no way to stop caring about this school and it's teams. We all have our cross to bare and SMU major sports are mine as well.

This all may read as a funny thread but it's real!

Folks, I've been an SMU football fan since watching Chuck Hixson's aerial circus as part of "MYF days" at the Cotton Bowl. I watched Texas, Notre Dame, USC, etc on the TV but college football in person always meant the SMU Mustangs; it was a big reason I went to school there. I don't remember winning a lot of championships but I seem to always recall the Ponies giving em a good game and being competitive. I'll be a fan as long as there is a team to watch. The beginning of our current protracted downward slide IMO was when that idiot coach Dave Smith replaced Hayden Fry (and the popular red and blue uniform) at the start of my freshman year and started paying players to make tackles, and at the same time managed to alienate the student body by booting some of them out of a dorm in order to make room for a team dorm.

Please, oh please someone do what it takes to turn this ship around and make us competitive again. It's painful to watch when we are considered underdogs against a team that didn't even exist a few years ago. Joining C-USA is a golden opportunity to resurrect some 'mojo' into our program.

Go mustangs :o :o

I need the pain

I must have a deep seated need to suffer to keep following SMU post DP like I do. I knew this was going to happen and that has made it even worse. Some day, I don't know when, this losing will end. I'm a Medicare retiree these days and only hope I live long enough to see better days.

This is what SMU does. Just when you think it is all over they pulll out a win that keeps you hanging on.
