ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Postby HOTSTANG » Tue May 14, 2002 6:09 pm

did you guys see where KG made WAC athlete of the week in Track and Field by running a 10.4?
Just think what he might do running what he's capable of running- 'cause I know he's not happy with a time like that.

He ran a 10.44 in the 100 meter dash, 0.11 of a second behind the winner (basically a photo finish). Exactly how fast do you think he is capable of running the 100 meters and what do you base that opinion on?

I heard in practice he's run between a 10.1 and 10.2 -- which qualifies him as a world-class sprinter.

If he's run a 10.1, that's faster than Deion Sanders, who was an ACC champion sprinter, and Willie Gault, who was the top sprinter in the SEC before qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Team. Is he really that fast? We all know he can run with anyone on a football field, but that's incredibly fast.

Are Trey Griffn and Jonas Rutledge running track as well? Seems like that would be the start of a pretty good relay team.

Are the other two having any success? Wasn't Trey pretty good in HS track?

Trey Griffin was a two-time (3A) state champion in the 100. He can fly.

We've all seen Jonas Rutledge racing by people on the football field. And believe it or not, he's the slowest of the three. KG is a top-flight sprinter, and Griffin is a half a step behind him. And Freeman can run with both of them.
