I confess...

I turned the CSTV off after the 4th and 4 two-yard pass with 2 minutes left. I told my wife that any coach that runs a play that will not get a first down by distance is banking on defeat...

I was wrong...

I missed a significant and exciting win...

I feel terrible..and wonderful...

Today is Sunday, and several folks in the congregation said "great game"
knowing that I am an SMU fan,,,Church can get dicey here in the land of Gators and Seminoles...I thought these folks were pulling the cruel chain of irony again, but no...no...I missed the moment.

Somewhere there is a sermon lurking in this situation, I think...

Congratulations Mustangs, for NOT giving up, even when a fan does..

I wondered how many people did that. Hell I almost missed the greatest play in SMU history I was so despondent when Tech tied SMU with :17 seconds in Lubbock in 1982. At least these days you can run the replay on CSTV. This is DEFINITELY worth the price.

I was there in 1982 with my seminary roomate and TT grad, Greg Biggs. After the tying score, I was numb and wanted to leave, but Greg had the wheels so I was stuck. NEVER heard such a quiet place, except for one idiot SMU fan in a sea of raiders..I escaped unscathed, as did the ponies.

Tech crowd, to their credit, after a moment of shock gave a LOUD round of applause to their team, and I think, to the history that they witnessed a moment before.

I'll never turn it off again...

Those Tech fans were clapping to create enough wind to blow away the smell of the big pile of sh*t they had just laid.
