Got an email from a buddy of mine who posed the following trivia questions about former college QBs who went on to the NFL.
The questions were:
Who was the last QB from OU to throw a TD pass in the NFL ranks?
Answer: none
Who was the last QB from the University of Texas to throw a TD pass in the NFL ranks?
Answer: Bobby Layne
Who was the last QB from TCU to throw a TD pass in the NFL ranks?
Answer: Sammy Baugh
Who was the last QB from SMU to throw a TD pass in the NFL ranks?
Answer: Don Meredith
Therefore, SMU can boast that it has the most recent QB to throw a TD in the NFL ranks!

That's not right. See below. Chris Simms has thrown a TD

And he left, but McCown for Arizona has thrown a few

Thanks for the clarification. I did not include McCown because he transferred to Sam Houston State and graduated from there.
I'm emailing my buddy with the Simms info.

Still MM65, that is a great Trivia Question...or was until CSimms botched it up.
Here is another that I am not certain of but it sounds good.
In their long history, UT and SMU have played each other twice when both teams were undefeated. Besides that fact, what else did the 2 games have in common???

Troy Aikman (OU then UCLA), Mike Livingston (SMU), Jerry Rhome(SMU then Tulsa), Jim Bob Taylor(SMU then Ga Tech),

Thanks, Stallion. I knew you'd come thru! I should have stated that 'transfers' (like McCown) don't count as part of the trivia question. Therefore, Mike Livingston would be the most recent. That still puts SMU ahead of the others...correct?

Since we don't have anyone in the NFL it's not likel;y that we are going to throw a TD this year.
Didn't Hixson play briefly in the NFL? Any TD throws?

I know he was with KC for a while but pretty far down on a heavy weight list. I believe it was Dawson, Livingston, Huarte, and then Chuck. Do not think he got any playing time. Could be wrong as my wife points out I often am.

I think, but I'm not sure, that he was with Buffalo for awhile also.

Well this is where I need help...can anyone remember the UT QB in 1983? Maybe Rick McIvor…whoever has was, I believe he was a Highland Park grad.
Player throwing passes that day for SMU was Lance McIIhenny, another HP grad.
Prior meeting was in ’48, players throwing passes that day were Bobby Lane and Doak Walker, again HP grads.

Gary Hammond threw a TD pass for the Cardinals in a game against the Cowboys. He was lined up as an end at the time.

So...theoretically, he was not a QB at the time.
