Any Austin area Ponies driving up to the game on Saturday?

I need a ride. Reply to this thread. PM me. Or email at [email protected]...

(Yeah, I don't have a car [sigh]... I won't have one until the end of the month. But I can do the driving later in the season/next season - I sold the car to finish my most recent film... and we're finishing it in Dallas over the next two weeks.)

Go PONIES!!!

Hello Thad;

I did a little research for you.
Take Amtrak to Fort Worth the Dart Trinity Train to Union Station and Dart to Mockingbird.

See if the schedule might work, No idea about the cost.

That would set our SMU stereotype back half a century or more. An SMU fan taking a Greyhound bus to see the Mustangs.

Thad, check out the Amtrak option. A friend of mine took the train from Temple to Fort Worth a few weeks ago. Total roundtrip fare was $26. Austin to Temple should not cost much more.

Happy Motoring.

Yeah, heaven forbid someone take a Greyhound bus to *gasp* actually attend an SMU game. :roll:

SW Airlines is not much more than Amtrak. I will pick you up at the airport if you fly in. I am arriving at 9:30am and picking up a rental. Got an extra ticket too if you need it.

Back in my politico days, we used to ship bulk documents via greyhound between Austin and Dallas and some small towns with bus stations. It was a very quick, cheap way of delivering packages. We could take stuff to the Austin bus station in the morning and pick it up in Dallas that afternoon. Don't know about post 9-11, but at the time, given the complete absence of security I saw, it seemed to me it was the best way to smuggle stuff around the country, not that I ever did such things.

Take the train while you can, Bush is about to "de-rail" Amtrak. Rack me!

Yeah, if I don't find a ride for the game, I will have to take Amtrak anyway a couple days later (Mon or Tues), because I am spending two weeks in Dallas. If I can't find a ride I'll stay in Austin through the weekend, watch the game on via "All Access" on the 'puter, and earn some extra dollars - and then go up via AmTrak...

Yup, I just need a ride up, because I am staying in Dallas through the Rice game.

The Dog is for suckers...

Thanks BUS for the resarch... isn't it odd that a man named BUS recomends the TRAIN for travel...

And mrydel - Southwest is comparable had I planned a few weeks ago. But a new job precludes me from leaving tomorrow as had been planned - but thatnk you so much for the offer of the airport pickup, very kind sir, very kind.
