This game was lost on not capitalizing on given opportunities (the first SMU possession should have resulted in a 7-0 lead), mental mistakes (our left guard jumping then giving up a sack on the last drive; not holding on to the ball), and poor play calling combined with blown assignments (leaving the TE wide open on 3rd and long late in the 4th quarter; throwing any pass at all inside the 5 when Martin has given you first and goal).

At each impasse where we could have seized the opportunity to win this game, it was almost as though someone or something WILLED against such things. I don't think a more disciplined team would have had so many things happen to them.

I know I chose to spend these 3+ hours watching this game, but I want that time back!

I spent most of the afternoon watching a movie and then going out for a late lunch. Heard a couple of minutes of the 3rd--the part where we could not score from the 2 and actually got pushed back to the 6. Then I heard the 60-something yard TU catch and run for the final TD. Typical SMU game. None of it surprised me. Did it surprise any of you?

We have 2 weeks to prepare for Rice and the triple option. Our only hope for a win to get to the glorious 3-8 mark comes against a team we can't stop on D.
