i don't think we can count on this as a win - we'll have to earn it

Rice eats away clock with their running game, and we don't do well when we score less than 24 points. This game really gives Rice their best chance at a win this year, and we are great at helping bad teams break their "bad" streaks.
We really need to open it up on offense and score quick and often if we're going to win it.
Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!

With two weeks to prepare....there is no excuse for SMU to look as pitiful as they have the last few years against Rice.

well..when did we ever need excuses to look pitiful. I fear we are a sitting duck for Rice Saturday. I fear that once again, SMU will take another team out of the winless column.
I fear.

Looks like i'm going to have to rethink my previous SMU-Rice prediction after the strong showing by Rice last night.
Nw revised prediction: SMU 9-Rice 8 in quadruple OT

I also watched that game last night. We will lose to Rice. In front of 6,000 lethargic homecomeing fans, we will lose to Rice. We are certainly capable of winning the game. But we will definitely lose, and we might lose badly.
I feel that two weeks to prepare for the option hurts us more than it helps us. Armstrong will run for 170+, and they will score on at least 2 "unexpected" and inexplicable long pass plays. You heard it here first.

PS,
We had a lot longer than 2 weeks to prepare for a Navy team that entered the game having only won 1 game in its last 21 tries…we ended up losing 38-7. After beating us, Navy went on lose its next 10 games.

This will make you feel better: The last team Rice beat was SMU.

Good god, what's wrong with everyone?
We haven't won a lot, but we've won twice this year, and against a couple of good teams.
We're at home.
It's Homecoming.
OF COURSE we'll win! Have a little faith, huh?

I thought he was hurt or something. Wasn't he replaced in the lineup a week or two back? Or was that just temporary?

We better be up for Rice. On Navy, remember, they had been a pro set the year before and changed to the veer. Without any film there was only a generic way to prepare. Also, that QB they had turned out to be a quality option QB. They then went on to 4 bowl eligible seasons because they had a good team put together and the right offense in play and the right play maker. The good news is that maybe UTEP isn't as good as we thought either.
