The homecoming game with Rice. Best menu of the season with JE making cajun food with LOTS of Rice to Eat.
I am sure the Special D. crowd will be grill'in and chill'in as well as the Geology bunch.
Let's Go Mustangs. Is this the game when we put it all together again? This team can play good ball,

KEY to the game - NO TURNOVERS

You're not? There are no guarantees, as we know, but you have to be excited about a chance -- a good chance -- for a win, right?

Okay, someone had to say it. To quote Roy Bailey. What comes out of a Max Yao's rear? Rice, Rice, Rice.

That had to be said?
This game scares me a little, if only because of what will be said/written if we lose .... but here's hoping the Ponies put my concerns to rest.
BEAT RICE!

Yeah I probably should be more fired up to see an underacheiving SMU team play a Rice team who has lost 13 straight, with their last win coming against guess who? SMU. Like I said a pillow fight.

I'm coming down for the game, and I'm ready to see another win (also was in the house for the win over the Froggies.)
SMU 31
Rice 20

....hey a lot of former players and head coaches never beat Rice in their entire career-good to see we are blowing this one off. This will make for an exciting postgame wrapup on the Bennett tenure on Ponyfans.com. Luckily since I'm such a positive guy I like the way we match up much more on defense this year with experience in the front 7 and a much better run defender in Sturdivant at Safety.

I'll be rooting for SMU (I can't help myself) but I think in the long run it will be better if SMU loses. Just being honest. It would force SMU to take a very serious look at the program. A decision would have to be made. Either quit or change course and do something anything to win. This could be the crossroads game.
I liked the bye week. No loss. Quite enjoyable. I don't think I would miss SMU football at all. I'm ready for it to end if SMU doesn't care about winning.

Nacho - That will not happen after the building of Ford. We still need the Faculty Senate and Trustees to get on board but [lease remember. some things have changed for the better.
We can actually talk about JUCO recruiting.

I like the matchup better, too. The keys, I think, will be Justin Rogers and Cory Muse being able to string the option out to the sides of the field. Even if they don't make the play, they have to get enough pressure to get the Rice runners moving laterally, not up and down the field. If they can string the plays out for the LBs (or Sturdivant) to make the play, then we can use the sideline as an extra defender.
Mustangs 17, Rice 10

This game is all about who runs the ball better. Rice is in the bottom 6 in run defense. I want to see Martin get 25 carries and I want to see a fullback or one back sets that allow Martin to run downhill. We need to control the line and ram the d*mn ball down the Owls throats. Of course if Bennett cannot figure out how to finally stop the option this game could be a high scoring affair.

I agree on 25 carries (minimum) for Martin. The Rice defense isn't the TCU defense, and he ran through that. Nothing fancy, no gimmick plays. Line up and run it.
Bottom line

We won't win this game unless we stop Rice's option attack. Under Bennett, we haven't stopped it yet!
He even mentioned the fact that he hasn't been able to stop Rice when he spoke in the Austin coaches roundup this past summer.
