Postgame festivities at Plucker's

Postby Huey78 » Sun Nov 06, 2005 12:46 pm

Wanted pass along some words about Plucker's post-game festivities.

The place was packed with SMU fans. They were playing the fight song repeatedly. People were singing along.... EVERY time they played it (six or seven times while we were there). The whole process looked to be initiated by the staff/Mgmt at Pluckers, made it feel very "college town'ish".

I'm going to make it a point to patronize the place more often, thought I'd also mention it on the board.

Add to that, they have VERY good wings (wife and kidslove the "Ranch" flavor wings) and this place is a "gimme" win for SMU fans... and we could use a little more help there  , hehe.

Just wanted to pass the word in case anyone was unaware of it.

I really like the atmosphere created there. I've gone there after the SMU wins and it's wild. Unfortunately it's also severely understaffed when this kinda crowd hits them so to get in there, eat and get out takes well over an hour and a half - two hours.

Not that celebration isn't good, it's just serving already starving (and thirsty) fans a hour after they arrive can be aggrivating.

But there's good in it, this atmophere wouldn't be created if SMU didn't win so you take the good with the bad.

Where were the coupons after yesterday's win? Usually there are staff people handing them out after an SMU win at the exits.

Plucker's is not a bad place for wings. I've had 'em there before. And the decor evokes SMU and the Mustangs. I'll continue to patronize them.

It does? Last time I drove by (on my way to Fuddruckers or Genghis Grill or Two Rows -- can't remember which), the only thing I saw in the window was a UT flag. Not coincidentally, I've never gone inside.

Nope... and I live about 1/2 an hour from them... so having the wife and kids be big fans is requiring almost more commitment than I'd care to give otherwise.

My comment did sound... scripted... though, didn't it?... "fine print" to follow...

The only thing I've taken from them is a Plucker's t-shirt for my wife that says "Saucy"... and I had to pay to join their Plucker's club to get it.

Figured it was worth it though if she'll wear the shirt, LOL.

The last time I was in Plucker's there was SMU memorabilia all over the place. There was a UT flag flying across the parking lot at Texadelphia. Not coincidentally, I've never gone inside there!
