Can DeMyron get into the record book?

DeMyron Martin has 642 rushing yards. The freshman record (ShanDerrick Charles in 2001) is 860.

So .... 218 yards (219 to break it) in the next two games -- is that doable?

Rice is the #111 rushing defense giving 219.50 yards
Houstion is only somewhat better at #93 yielding 186.5
UTEP is no defensive gem at #74 allowing 155 yards

So... Looks possible.

That would be really cool if he can get it. He's shown flashes of great ability, and in the interviews I've heard, he sounds like a really humble young man. I'm a big ShanD fan, but I'd like to see Martin get it.

Getting the record would be great for him, but also for the team. That would be something we can sell to recruits, fans, media, etc.
I hope he gets it. It will be tough, but I don't think it's impossible.

Anyone have an update on ShanD?
How's his back these days?

I am not real sure that DeMyron is all that humble. I think he has a pretty good idea exactly how good he just might be.

As for the record, that is not outside the realm of the impossible. I am guessing that he will need about 40 to 50 carries to get there based on his 4.8 ypc average. Of course this discussion would be irrelevant if somehow the head coach or offensive coordinator would have got him into the freaking Baylor game and maybe decided not to surprise Tulsa by putting in the backup running back for the first quarter.

Have you ever talked to him? I'm sure he knows how good he is -- he's got to have confidence -- but he seems awfully down-to-earth to me. I get the sense that he really has his head screwed on straight.

And as for getting the record, he might need more than 48-50 carries. I expect Houston's and UTEP's defense to be much better than those at East Carolina and Rice....

Brian T could talk to you for hours about Allen HS football and DeMyron Martin and Justin Willis.

The other issue of course is how committed the other teams are to stopping the run. They may challenge us to pass.

I was asked a few weeks ago if all Allen HS graduates are as "confident" as DeMyron if you get my meaning.

Willis went to Denton Ryan.

I just enjoyed following Willis' career at Denton Ryan and have whipped the Blog's arse about Willis this season much like I did with Martin last year.
