Ok, so everyone's complaining about the big student migration out of Ford after 1/2time. I know it sucks, and I agree that something should be done, but WHAT?
Can the university REQUIRE football attendence? I think not. What keeps students in the stands. This would be a GREAT time for students who do stay to chime in.
PS, good to see them win!

Our students are pathetic, just like the alums. the few adults that show up, get there late, and leave early. what's even more amazing, is even when we were ahead yesterday, the alums STILL left early! you would think they would want to relish a rare victory!

It was Homecoming and alot of the students (mainly sorority girls) simply waited till the announcment for the homecoming court and left. This happens every year as the football game isn't the reason they were there in the first place.

Yesterday I had a friend that stayed on the BLVD the entire time to watch the tent and he said he thought there was "at least" 200 people that stayed on the BLVD the entire game.
We have the "BLVD Experience" mastered and the fans freaking love it!
Now the next riddle to solve is....how can we pull off that same enjoyable experience at the actual game?

I left my wife at the Galleria with $2,000 while I went to the game. Luckily it was not overtime.

Ahhh...the price one pays to be a football fan. Did she have any trouble making that $2,000 stretch over that time frame?

I thought it was funny that even the teams who placed in the "spirit competition" for student groups looked like they left after the half also....ironic huh?
The "panhellenic" girls who were on the big screen in the 3rd quarter were the only ones left - they walked back to an empty student section, and then promptly left themselves I'm sure....also funny and sad.
I bet the big-wigs are embarassed by that...

I will say this though, the homecoming queen was still in the stands w/ her family in the fourth quarter - so good for her!

Actually she spent nothing but made me buy her a pair of shoes when I got back.

why do the students leave??? Why would you go to something that the university is half [deleted] at? Tailgate is great... the university gets an "A" on that area. But for football??? There is no reason why we should be this bad. The students know that Copeland has not done anything for the athletic program. It is almost a joke if you are going to an SMU football game if you are a student here. I have gone to every game, and I stay from the beginning to the end. I went to A&M and stayed the whole game. I love watching football. But when you go to a stadium that is more than half empty everytime it is depressing. We have a beautiful campus, rich football history, great academics, and we are in Dallas. Not to mention top notch facilities. We should be at least half-way decent at football. You look at other failing football programs and you look at the quality of schools they are, and there is a huge coincidence. The quality of school reflects the athletic programs. San Jose state, FIU, FAU, Buffalo, New Mexico State, Idaho, Ball State, ECU, etc. etc. In regards to athletics, we are in the same class as all of those universities. The difference is we have good academics. At least concentrate on one major sport. Yes Rice sucks at football, but they have a great baseball team. Yes Duke sucks at football, but they have a great basketball team. The same can be said for a bunch of schools like Tulane, Stanford, and even Vanderbilt. It looks bad on the university when you have a crappy athletic program. Even more so when your student body thinks its a joke.
